Last year, my classmates had the fantastic opportunity to visit Pereira, where they spent an entire day at Ukumarí Biopark. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary. They embarked on a journey through the park's diverse ecosystems. From the moment they arrived, they encountered a wide variety of animals. They marveled at the towering giraffes, whose graceful movements and gentle demeanor left a lasting impression. They observed the zebras, with their striking black-and-white stripes, and were fascinated by their interactions and behaviors. The tropical birds were another highlight, their vibrant colors and melodious calls adding a splash of brilliance to the day.

The park's focus on conservation was a central theme throughout their visit. They learned about the efforts being made to protect endangered species and preserve natural habitats. The experience was not only entertaining but also deeply educational, as it instilled in them a greater understanding of the critical role that each individual plays in wildlife preservation.

After settling into my cozy hotel, I ventured into downtown Pereira. The city center is bustling with activity and offers a variety of attractions. I started with a visit to the plaza del bolívar, a lively square surrounded by historic buildings. The imposing Cathedral of Our Lady of Poverty is a standout feature here, showcasing stunning neo-Romanesque architecture.

Today has been an incredibly exciting day. We arrived in Bogotá after a bus trip with our entire school group. From the first moment, you could feel excitement in the air, since many of us had not been to the capital before.

Once we arrived, we headed to **Jaime Duque Park**, where we spent most of the day. This place is stunning, with so many things to see and do. We visited the *Legacy Passport*, an attraction that took us through different moments in world history. It was like a trip back in time, and we learned a lot while having fun.

After an afternoon full of adventures, we went to our hotel in the center of Bogotá. We were assigned shared rooms, which was great because it allowed us to spend more time with our friends. We then enjoyed a delicious dinner before relaxing a bit at the hotel.

Tomorrow will be another day full of activities. We will start with a tour of **Candelaria** and **Plaza Bolívar**, two emblematic places in the city. I am very excited to learn more about the history and culture of Bogotá. Afterwards, we will visit the famous **Botero Museum**, where we will see some of the artist's best-known works.

In the afternoon, we will explore the **Gold Museum**, a place I have always wanted to visit. I'm told the exhibits are impressive, with thousands of gold pieces dating back to pre-Columbian times. I am sure it will be a unique experience.

Morning: Jaime Duque Park

We started the day with a lot of energy and enthusiasm because we headed to Jaime Duque Park, one of the most fun and varied places you can visit in Bogotá. This park is huge and has an incredible mix of attractions.

Attractions and Fun: From roller coasters to live shows, we didn't stop for a minute! We rode almost all the rides and laughed a lot at the amusement park. The more adventurous ones took the Ferris wheel and the less daring enjoyed the zoo.

Zoo and Gardens: In addition to the attractions, the park's zoo was a great surprise. We were able to see animals like tigers, lions, and even a couple of elephants. The gardens and landscape were perfect for taking some photos and enjoying the outdoors.

Afternoon: City Tour in La Candelaria and Plaza Bolívar

After lunch, we headed to the historic neighborhood of La Candelaria to begin our city tour. This place is full of history and colonial architecture that left us speechless.

La Candelaria: We walked through cobblestone streets and saw houses with vibrant colors. The guides told us fascinating stories about the history of Bogotá and the cultural importance of the neighborhood. The photo in front of the Casa de Nariño is a must!

Plaza Bolívar: Plaza Bolívar was our next destination. It surprised us with its size and the majesty of the Primada Cathedral and the Liévano Palace. We learned a lot about Simón Bolívar and the crucial role this plaza played in the history of Colombia.

Night: Dinner and Relaxation

We ended the day with dinner at a local restaurant where we tried some typical Bogotá delicacies. The ajiaco was a resounding success! After a delicious dinner, we returned to the hotel to rest and prepare for the second day of adventures.

Day 2: Art and Culture in Bogotá

Morning: Botero Museum

We started the second day by visiting the Botero Museum, a place we were all looking forward to. This museum houses an incredible collection of works by Fernando Botero and other pieces by international artists.

Botero Exhibition: Botero's collection left us impressed. His sculptures and paintings of voluptuous figures are unique and fun. We were very surprised by the way he manages to convey both humor and social criticism through his art.

Visits and Activities: In addition to Botero, the museum has a collection of modern and contemporary art that allowed us to see a variety of artistic styles and techniques.

Afternoon: Gold Museum

To close our trip, we went to the Gold Museum, one of the most important and emblematic in Bogotá.

Gold Collection: We were fascinated to see the collection of pre-Hispanic gold pieces. The guides explained to us how the ancient inhabitants of the region used gold in their ceremonies and how the pieces were made with such sophisticated techniques.

History and Culture: In addition to gold, we learned about indigenous cultures and their importance in Colombian history. The museum was an educational and enriching experience for everyone.

After an afternoon full of history and art, we headed back to school. Although we were a little tired, we all agreed that the trip to Bogotá was an amazing experience. The combination of fun at Jaime Duque Park, cultural exploration in La Candelaria and Plaza Bolívar, and visits to museums made these two days truly memorable.

Day 1: Arrival in the Walled City

Our family trip to Cartagena began with a mix of excitement and anticipation. It was my parents, my younger sister, and me. As soon as we landed, the Caribbean heat and the air filled with history welcomed us. From Rafael Núñez Airport, we headed straight to our hotel in the historic center. We stayed in a beautiful colonial house turned boutique hotel, with high ceilings and colorful walls that made us feel like we had stepped back in time.

After settling in, we ventured out to explore the Walled City. Walking through its cobblestone streets felt like stepping into the pages of a history book. The colorful facades, flower-filled balconies, and street vendors brought every corner to life. We stopped at Santo Domingo Square, where we saw the famous Botero sculpture, "La Gorda Gertrudis." Of course, my sister didn’t miss the chance to touch it for “good luck.”

For dinner, we chose a local restaurant with an incredible view of the sunset over the sea. The coconut rice and fried fish were family favorites, and my dad couldn’t stop praising how fresh everything tasted.

Day 2: San Felipe Castle and Bocagrande Beaches

Our second day began with a visit to the San Felipe de Barajas Castle, the largest fortress built by the Spanish in the Americas. Exploring its tunnels and passages was an exciting adventure, especially for my sister, who insisted on checking out every corner as if she were on a treasure hunt. From the top of the castle, we had a breathtaking view of all of Cartagena, from the modern Bocagrande area to the Caribbean Sea.

After soaking up the history, we decided to relax at the Bocagrande beaches. Although these aren’t the most idyllic beaches in the region, we wanted to stay close to the city and enjoy the local vibe. We spent the afternoon sunbathing, swimming, and savoring tropical-flavored snow cones, while my mom collected seashells along the shore.

Day 3: Rosario Islands: Nature and Fun

If there was one thing we had been looking forward to, it was our excursion to the Rosario Islands. We woke up early to catch a boat to this idyllic archipelago. The crystal-clear water and white sand beaches were absolutely stunning. We spent the day snorkeling among vibrant coral reefs and tropical fish. It was the first time my sister and I had ever snorkeled, and we were amazed by the underwater life.

At noon, we had lunch in a seaside hut: fried plantains, salad, and more fresh fish. It was the perfect break before spending the afternoon exploring the island, playing on the beach, and just relaxing.

Day 4: Bazurto Market and La Popa

On our last full day in Cartagena, we wanted to experience something more authentic and less touristy, so we headed to the Bazurto Market. Despite warnings about how chaotic it could be, it turned out to be one of the most enriching experiences of the trip. The vibrant colors, the aromas, and the bustling crowds created a sensory feast. We tasted tropical fruits we’d never seen before, like borojó and zapote, and my dad stocked up on spicy peppers to use in his cooking back home.

Later, we headed up to the Cerro de La Popa, where the convent of the same name sits. The panoramic views from up there were breathtaking; we could see the entire city, the sea, and the distant islands. It was a peaceful spot, perfect for reflecting on everything we had experienced during the trip.

Day 5: Farewell and Promises to Return

Our last day in Cartagena was bittersweet. We spent some time strolling through the Walled City one last time, making final souvenir purchases and enjoying coffee on a terrace overlooking Plaza de los Coches. My mom bought some beautiful handicrafts, and I picked up a wayuu bag to remember this adventure.

When it was time to leave, we all agreed that Cartagena had exceeded our expectations. The combination of history, nature, and the warmth of its people made us promise we’d return someday.

Cartagena gave us unforgettable moments as a family, and as the plane took off, we were already planning our next adventure. Until next time, Cartagena!

At 6 AM, we will leave from the school and head towards Bogotá, where we will stay for 2 days, which we are going to enjoy a lot. We will go to Parque Jaime Duque, which is located outside of Bogotá. Then we will go to a hotel to sleep and have a buffet-style dinner.
