CHOICE. Not every student is the same kind of learner, so try giving them multiple options when assigning projects. This shows that you respect their unique learning style. It also shows that you’re more interested in facilitating their learning than exercising your authority.

This is a great way to make students do presentations in a low-pressure way and can be done at the beginning or end of the class, or even at the end of the term. Assign a topic and ask the students to bring an object or a picture to class. Holding something in their hands will make them feel less nervous and more self-confident. They will do a 1 or 2-minute presentation about their object, depending on the size of the group. Encourage the class to ask follow-up questions to show their interest, and make the presenter more comfortable. 

Brainbox is a fun card game that tests memory and observation. It consists of a set of 55 cards with pictures on one side and questions related to those images on the other side. 

This game can be easily adapted in the English class using flash cards or posters you may have in your classroom. First of all, create a large pile of flashcards or posters they can be ones left from previous years or about random themes, but this is exactly what we want. Ideally, they represent a situation and not a single object, otherwise it could be difficult to elicit enough language from students.

This simple game can be done at either the beginning or end of the class. Students can work in pairs or ideally in small groups. Give each group a piece of paper and a pencil. Say a category and students try to write as many words as possible that match the category. The first group to finish with the highest number of words will win the round, if the words are correct!
