How and Why did your family come to the United States?

My family came over as poor people from Nigeria and eventually settled in Virginia. And later on eventually settled in California after having 12 kids to give them a better life.

What were the obstacles that they met?

One of the obstacles was racisim as it was a major impact in my family they still wanted to get into the United States and they ended up in Virginia. After dealing with a lot of racial hate and financial struggles they moved to California where they were able to support 12 kids.

What was going on Historically in the U.S. during this time and did it affect your family?
