A word I struggled to use was "student privacy." I think it connects to the idea of student data being input into AI systems and how their privacy is protected. For example, if you're working on a lesson plan and include student accommodations to meet their needs. Is their data protected, and to what extent is it safeguarded? We also discussed whether AI-powered tutoring systems and co-pilot systems are related, and if so, how are they connected? Can they be considered the same?

We started with UDL, since it was the "universal" hexagon. We found that most of the hexagons could go in multiple spots, as they are similarly connected. For example, "equity and access" is connected to future skills, UDL, special education, and AI. One that stood out to me was "student data privacy" as it leads to many teachers concerns about students using AI in the classroom. As a special education teacher, I could argue that the "special education" hexagon could also go on the AI side, as it is a great tool for diverse learners to keep up with their general education peers.

We also noticed that teaching our students about AI is a skill they will need in the future. UDL and AI really do go hand in hand.

The main part of our hexagonal thinking map was AI Powered tutoring systems. A major connection from that is to personalized learning feedback as tutoring systems can provide that. From there we can also go to adaptive learning platforms where students can receive personalized learning feedback. Back to the center with AI Powered tutoring systems,, from there we made a connection to AI enhanced feedback. Finally we found that special education can also benefit from personalized learning feedback.

AI and UDL can work together in multiple ways. AI is a skill for the future that allows for creativity and a more productive workflow. It also allows for easier access to content and more immediate and direct feedback in a timely manner to help both students and educators. Humans must work together with the AI in order to allow for thoughtful lesson planning and productivity within the classroom setting.

We started off by connecting Human and AI Hybrid teams with workflow - as a group we discussed how by utilizing AI as a tool in the workspace you can create a balance (like we were talking about yesterday with the 80/20 work division). One of the hexagons that stood out to me and was the Future Skills one. I think that both UDL and AI are vehicles for delivering these future skills to our students. AI probably isn't going anywhere and it would be to the students' advantage to learn how to use it correctly and to their benefit.
