         <description><![CDATA[<div>My students this year really enjoy the hands on sight word work. This includes building their list of sight words with magnets, scrabble tiles, wikki sticks, magnets, clothespin clip a word, unifix cubes, Iphone type a word, play doh, etc. Each day students choose one or two of these activities, saying each letter as they build it, then saying the word, writing it, &amp; saying it once again.  It takes a lot of modeling, expectation setting, and procedural reinforcement in the beginning but it is effective and students are engaged. </div>]]></description>

         <title>I feel that two of my most beneficial stations are my phonics and sight word station.  These stations have activities that stay the same weekly but the skills change.  The students are able to apply the skills that they have learned in our letterland instruction and our sight word instruction.  They are using manipulatives to build sight words.  I spend a good amount of time at the beginning of the year teaching the procedures for these stations.  </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My most engaging and effective centers in my room are my sight word center and my writing center.  The students in my room love to share what they write.  Establishing a good routine encourages them to know what to do when they think they are finished.  Along with our written responses, we always talk about how (he/she) could make it better.  The students work hard to try to outdo themselves.</div>]]></description>

In the Word Work station,  the children are working with letter tiles and activities that help them apply the skills we are learning in Letterland.  In Technology, the children are listening to books and responding by writing or using Padlet.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The most effective and engaging center in my guided reading time is my word work (independent work) center. During this time, students are working with the phonics skill for the week. They may be cutting/sorting words, completing a Read Around the Room activity, or making a phonics book, among other things. The work completed during this time allows me to see if they are able to take the phonics skills taught during whole group lessons and apply them independently. I spend at least 2 weeks at the beginning of the year modeling and practicing reading groups and I  review the expectations weekly&nbsp;to ensure student success.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The most engaging and effective centers during my guided reading rotations are word work and RAZ-Plus. The word work center allows students to manipulate letters and sound chunks. It causes them to think about the phonics skills currently being learned as well as apply past week&#39;s skills. RAZ-Plus has been a motivating program for my students. They are engaged with listening, reading and taking quizzes on their leveled books and earning Star points for their accomplishments. Routine is the foundation for success. We discuss expectations for each center and practice what it looks like and what it doesn&#39;t look like. We spend short amounts of time at the beginning of school practicing routines until we move into longer times. </title>

         <title>The most effective and engaging centers in my guided reading reading rotations are sight words and the phonics stations.  During these stations the students get to apply the skills they are learning during whole group instrument.  During both of the groups the students get to play games or do an activity and the best part is that the students don&#39;t realized they are learning at the same time.  The stations are the same each week just the game/activity may be a little different.</title>

         <title>My most effective and engaging guided reading centers are my phonics and my Raz kids station.  During these stations I incorporate Letterland into my phonics station and have some hands on activities for them. With Raz Kids they have their own Ipad and can manipulate it to listen to stories.  They also love that they can record themselves reading.  For the most part my stations stay the same but may change with the focus. </title>
