- They cut down a tree, and Humbaba asked "who has entered my forest."
- Humbaba surrounded them moving everywhere around them, changing faces, frightening the two heros.
- The two were trembling, "the sun has abandon us, the forest is dark."- Enkidu
- Gilgamesh stood confidently saying "we can prevail victorious if we stand together, i am not ready to die yet." Asking shamash to protect them.
- Charge, son of Uruk yelled Enkidu

Humbaba - Guardian/ Evil creature
Shamash - Sun God

-Each day they traveled 50 leagues (172.6 miles)
-The sacrificed grain to the dream god
-Each night Gilgamesh would have the same dream
-Enkidu interpreted the dream and told Gilgamesh "Shamash the sun will shine upon you, and you will slay Humbaba. Standing together, we two will prevail."
-Once they arrived at the forest, Gilgamesh fell asleep again.
-Shamash woke Gilgamesh up and Gilgamesh asked Shamash to protect them
