The novel starts off with talking about SexED and female condoms because she is in class called Making Proud Choices. She was talking about the weird designs on the condom.
More into the novel, after she gets called on to go with Mr.Seaver. This was when she was overthinking on why she got called on. After a while she gets news the she got into METCO. Mrs. Marano was pregnant so she looked like she was gonna have her baby. Then the vice principle came in and everyone went silent. She went to say hi to a girl that was eating Doritos and the girl was really mean she ignored her and looked at her up and down. And then a boy named Rayshawn told her that she can be like that at times, and to not worry. He introduced her to all of them there and it was awkward so she just looked for a seat not too close to them. When they were about to leave she spotted a boy and she thought that he was really cute, but she was scared to talk to him, so she didn't but they made eye contact. My words that i choose are affecting my character because she loves her family and her dad was deported back to Quatemala because he isn't documented in the U.S and he's paying a coyote to get him over the border. A coyote is a person you pay to get you across the U.S border if you pay them a certain amount of money but it's dangerous since it's not how it used to be in terms of the security and her mom is acting up worried about him to. She sincerely cares for him. I am changing my words to family and pressure. I choose family because she loves her family and it's very important to her specifically her dad. She thinks about him every day,worries about him and prays for him to make it back home to her and her family since he's trying to make it across the U.S border, and she's worried about her mother as well. 
Then, the other word i choose pressure because I feel like she's pressured into the kind of friends she hangs around,like the group of friends she tried to talk to on the first day of school the doritio girl.
