As educators, we are tasked with helping pupils prepare to participate in a very different world than the world of the early 20th century.  Sadly, we are still often expected to use methods of educating that were designed to educate pupils to enter an environment that hasn't existed for 80 years.  The use of tech in the classroom helps educators close this gap.

I think the purpose of utilizing technology in the classroom is to fully immerse students into the material. With visuals, videos, songs and other virtual enhancements, all types of learners can be engaged and are more likely to remember the information. We can't stop them from using their phones so at least let them use it in class for research purposes. For games. For reading even. I've played with my students kahoot, and I give them reading tasks. With my fourth grade pupils, I told them to film themselves speaking in English and send it to me by whatsapp or mail. Using their "fun" (playing with the phone) to maximize teaching.
