         <description><![CDATA[<div>I chose this theory because I find the idea of "information control interesting. The best example of this that I could find was Johnson and Johnson's reaction to an incident in which Tylenol was laced with cyanide by an unidentified criminal. As stated in this article: <a href="https://www.ou.edu/deptcomm/dodjcc/groups/02C2/Johnson%20&amp;%20Johnson.htm">https://www.ou.edu/deptcomm/dodjcc/groups/02C2/Johnson%20&amp;%20Johnson.htm</a>,&nbsp; the company reacted by immediately pulling a large portion of their stock from stores despite the fact they they were most likely unhampered with, sending the message to the public that they would not take risks. The article then goes on to explain that a think tank was formed to decide how best to deal with the issues, which chose to invest in a multitude of public service announcements to be played for the public, as well as introducing a new seal to their bottles which was harder to tamper with. In doing these things, they managed to successfully minimize the damages caused to their business by the incident,  and have done so by controlling how and when information was given to the public.</div>]]></description>
