This course definitely met my expectations. As a future teacher I had hoped to learn more over my future students to allow me in understanding them as an individual along with how I can help them learn. This course has opened my eyes as to what to expect. There are many approaches and valuable information this course has taught me that will be beneficial in the long run.

Self Expectations

I would say I met my self expectations. I engage in every assignment to help me gain knowledge over special needs students. I was able to go out into a classroom and experience first hand what it is like teaching those specific students. I also interviewed a special needs education teacher which was very interesting. Mr. Bean had answered my questions perfectly. Which only made me more excited for my future. I had met my expectation as I went throughout this course. I impressed my self and challenged myself.

As a future teacher a few thing I will take with me include: What ADHD exactly is and how to teach students who may show it along with gifted students and the many ways to help them succeed. I know what an IEP consist of and how to construct one. Another piece of information that I will carry with me is the importance of communicating with parents, this includes the different fun ways to due so. And lastly the main thing I will always remember is that students will only learn from a teacher who cares about them. Creating a bond with your students is just as important as the curriculum you teach.
