So far, I have accomplished getting my supplies for recording. First, I bought a Behringer Audio Interface for $50. Audio Interface's allow you to connect microphones and other instruments to your computer for recording purposes. Then, I bought a Shure SM57 for $100. It's a dynamic instrument microphone for my saxophone. For my music production software, I already have Ableton Live installed and ready to go on my laptop. My next steps include, composing a piece of music to record, actually record that piece, and polish and publish it. I have not encountered any problems or issues so far. I have successfully received all my resources such as an audio interface, instrument microphone, and music production software to be successful. But I imagine some issues down the road such as problems with the music production software and the polishing process. One thing I have learned is that the recording and polish process takes way longer than the composing aspect of it.

A lot of things have changed since my last blog post in January. First, I decided to use Apple's GarageBand over Ableton Live because I already had experience with GarageBand and it's much more user-friendly than Ableton Live in terms of a music production software. Second, I'm nearly complete with my song, all I have to do is record a solo for the solo section and do some small editing and polishing. I do have the chords, drums, and bass line complete in GarageBand. For the chords, I decided to go with an electric piano, along with the bass line being played in the left hand of said piano. For the drums I went with electronic rather than acoustic because it better fit with the general sound of the song. The composing began with me playing around with chords on the guitar and trying to find a verse and chorus. Once I found what I liked, I went on GarageBand and created the bass line on the left hand of the electric piano. I mainly played the roots of the chords. Next, I added the chords on the right hand. I did this with the verse and chorus. Then, I played around with the electronic drums and found a beat I felt fit the electric piano. Next, I wrote a melody for the verse and used a glockenspiel to play it, but I might change it to a tenor sax played by me. I added in some strings to play some ascent notes in the chorus to fill the sound up. My song will be ready by April 17th or even early, just depending how the solo goes.

As of right now, I have edited my song enough to record solos tomorrow. All I have to do is implement the solos, extend my song, and polish it. My song will be finished by April 17th and maybe earlier depending how everything goes. I wanted to post a screen recording of GarageBand but the file was too large to upload. So, I'm going to create an album cover in replacement of that artifact. I thinking of involving some nature in the cover with a bright and colorful color scheme for the spring time. As I'm finishing the end of my music producing process, I wanted to reflect a little on my piece. First of all, I should of started sooner rather than later. The problem I had was wasting time in trying to find the correct verse and chorus for a song. In the end it was worth it, because I found a verse and chorus that really fits well together and that I really enjoy. The rest was pretty easy, I mostly just played around with the chords on GarageBand until I found what I liked. Then made a beat, and added in some flavor.
