I think the man should be the one to pay for the first date because in my mind, the man is supposed to provide and he should be the one providing all the things required for the first date. Not only that but, it shows how well a man can take care of you or how much you're basically worth to him if he pays for the first date.

I feel like it would be nice for the man to pay for the first date because it shows good etiquette and that you will be taken care of, but if needed to it could be split.

I say the boys/men because its them being a gentleman and them showing respect
