You volunteer at a local NGO that supports refugees to settle into the community. As one of the younger volunteers, you were asked to support individuals who are the same age as you. Over the last month, you have had great fun getting to know them, introducing them to local open spaces and starting a football team. As you all get on so well, you are thinking about approaching them as participants for your dissertation project and possibly introducing them to some of your friends.

It’s important for us to consider the idea of “getting them involve into the dissertation project” and clarify the possible issues that may happen next, so that they have more time to get a better understanding of the whole project and think about it thoroughly before they make the final decision.

Transparency goes first. If you get an idea of doing some research after you getting to know each other, just let them know everything and what you are thinking. Let them to consider.

Don’t assume your friends will treat them like what you do, these refugees may get the opportunity of building new relationships or getting hurt again.
