1929, August 14: Jon Osterman is born  (page 2) - father: Josef Osterman & mother: Inge Osterman

1945: His father is a watchmaker and teaches jon to make watches

1945: The united states drops atom-bombs on hiroshima and nagasaki. This was a turning point for jon. His father said that he should become a astro physicist

1958: he graduates from university with an phd in astro psysics 

He meets Jane Slatey at his new job, Gila Flats.

1959: In a horrible accident he is trapped inside a chamber and is disintegrated

His nervous system quickly appeared in the bathroom at gila flats

He appears several other times before coming back to live as a blue ripped guy in the cafeteria at his old job.

1960: He gets hired by the government. He marks his forehead with a symbol. An atom

1963: JFK is assassinated, and even though dr. manhattan knew it would happen he does nothing about it

Theme and title:
Dr. Manhattan’s dad was a watchmaker and he could be a possible watchmaker as well. His dad forces him to be a scientist after the atomic bomb was dropped on. The watchmaker is also a symbol. He becomes a watcher and he kind of made himself by going in and getting Jane's watch.

When he drops the picture in the opening scene he loses touch with humanity and becomes what he believes is a god. He sees himself as a god.  

The cogs appears throughout the chapter, as does the picture.

1966: the people in disguises are arguing

    The title is “watchmaker” witch matches the plot of the chapter, because we learn how John Ostermans turned into Dr. Manhattan whits was because he had reperad Jaines watch and went into the machine to get it from his jacket, he got stuck inside and turned into dr. Manhattan by accident. He also wanted to be a watchmaker, his father forced him to become a physicist.  
    1. Opening image 
    The opening image is of an old picture of John Ostermans himself and Janey, who was his old girlfriend before he turned into dr. Manhattan. The picture represent the his old life, but he can’t feel those warm feelings anymore.
