Gandhi grew up in India with an important family that shaped his beliefs and philosophy.<br>B. Gandhi experienced racism in South Africa when he was a lawyer.<br>C. In 1893, a bill was introduced in South Africa that made it illegal for Indians to vote, so Gandhi brought the community together to fight for their civil rights.<br>D. Gandhi worked with a political party called the Indian National Congress to build schools and clean up villages.<br>E. Since the early 1900s, Gandhi lead several protests and boycotts in India and South Africa to take a stand against the government's control to fight for people's civil rights.<br>F. When Gandhi returned to India after living in South Africa, he saw firsthand how poorly his people were treated in their own country.<br>G. Gandhi was sentenced to six years in prison due to his encouragement of others to rebel, which affected his ability to lead the INC; however, he was soon back in politics after being released.</div>]]></description>
