So from a very sad circumstances we have to quickly become smiling and joyful but such a sudden change is not easy at all

In her speech, Melanie Bowden's talks about the problems that the vet faces on a daily basis, how important the understanding and empathy are and what its lack can lead to. and by that she means that vets are one of the top on the suicide risk list compared to other occupations.It is very important problem also in Poland. As a future veterinarians it is our duty to educate, explain and show the owners, what are we dealing with. It is also crucial to develop mechanisms that would help us with the emotional pressure that will be put on our shoulders. The speeches like that performed by Melanie and by social activity, will eventually lead us to better medical care for our animals, and much better working environment for vets.

My greatest fear is that it will be hard for me to deal with the pressure. Pet owners will hold me responsible for years of their neglect. This is something my family often tells me, they are worried that I won't be able to say no when I have to. If you can’t afford treatment you shouldnt get a pet. A lot of people think that one pill will solve the problem with our pet but the case may be more complicated or not predictable. Being veterinarian is wonderful and terrible at the same time. Melanie Bowden talks about what a typical day of work of a veterinarian looks like. She shows how many people misunderstand this profession. It talks about how often, practically at the same time, there are conflicting emotions that the veterinarian has to deal with. After the death of one animal and consoling its owner, she must go to another patient as soon as possible, whom she must greet with a big smile. She shows how much work, responsibilities and making tough decisions a veterinarian has in one day. That is why, unfortunately, more and more veterinarians resign from the profession because they cannot do it anymore.  ‘Of the veterinarians who have died since 2010, 10% have committed suicide’ - I think other people should find out what this profession really looks like and show veterinarians more support and empathy…

I belive this video can help make clients aware of how hard it is to be a vet. I agree with everything that Melanie said because I saw the work of the vet myself when I was on the summer internship. Things that she said it's nothing new and innovative for me, but it still makes me sad that this is what my future job looks like.
