         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>How: </em></strong>Affirmative action is an outcome of the 1960’s civil rights movement and its purpose is to provide equal opportunities for minority groups and woman in employment and education <br><strong><em>When:</em></strong> Became a thing after JFK signed the executive order 10925 on 3/6/1961 that said “required government contractors to "take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed and that employees are treated during employment without regard to their race, creed, color, or national origin."</div><div><strong><em>Why:</em></strong><strong> </strong>directed at increasing the number of people, from certain parts of the society, within business or educational institutions or in areas where their presence is low.<br><strong>-</strong> intended to make equal opportunities for minorities and women in education and employment</div>]]></description>

The best people fit for the position should be put there, regardless of race<br>-  Students/workers who are put into a position through affirmative action sometimes aren't fully ready for the task. Not only is this not good for the university/company, but it is also not good for these students/workers as well because it lowers self-esteem.</div>]]></description>
