While their uncle is filled with rage about Hitler’s laws they are under, their grandmother doesn’t seem to be as agitated or angered by it. I chose this passage because I found it interesting as well as shocking. I was surprised that the narrator’s grandmother who wasn’t benefiting from Hilter’s system and laws in the slightest bit, was recognizing his “success” and giving him props for what he’s done. It makes me wonder if they’re used to being treated poorly that they just have a mindset of “there is nothing I can make out of my situation at the moment and I have no power over this.” I believe if they had hope for the world to become a safer place without Hitler in charge, they would point out the damage he has done to so many people.
