The poem shows the difference between the ideal American dream and the reality of American life. The United States in no way fulfills its promise of freedom and equality. 
I enjoyed the repetition used in the poem, as it strengthened the authors tone to make his point. Something that surprised me was the direction the poem written by Langston Hughes went in. The poem known as "Let America be America Again" allowed me to see a different point of view. It surprised me because I originally thought the poem would talk about issues, however this poem told a story that felt harshly real.
2. I believe a good question to ask the class to start a discussion about this is how they interpreted the poem. I say this because not everybody will interpret a set of lines the same way, some may understand the true meaning behind the poem meanwhile others may have a totally different view.
