<title>This helps the plant to make or create new seeds that grow into plants. This is how honeybees help flowers. Honeybees are social insects. They live together in big groups called SWARMS. They build beehives (homes) mostly on high branches of all trees.</title>

<title>HONEY BEESHave you seen honeybees hovering over or sitting on flowers? Do you know why they are attracted to flowers ? Do you know that honeybees get something very useful from flowers ? Flowers produce a sweet liquid called a nectar. They have a long tube-like proboscis. When they sit on a flower, they insert this proboscis into the flower and suck the nectar. Flowers produce pollen. When honeybee is busy sucking nectar from a flower, pollen grains stick to it. When the bee moves on to another flower, some of the pollen grains from the first flower fall on second flower. Transfer of pollen grains from one flower to another is called POLLINATION. </title>

<title>Honeybees are of three types :-The queen bee : It is the only female in the beehive. Her only work is to lay eggs . The worker bee : It builds the beehive, gathers nectar from flowers, converts nectar into honey and cleans and guards the hive. The drone bee : It is a stingless male bee in the hive. Its only work is to help the queen bee produce eggs.</title>

<title>Obtaining Honey Honeybees protect their hive by attacking the person or animal approaching the hive. The smoke and heat force the bees to leave the hive. When the bees leave the hive, we collect honey from the hive. Honey is an antiseptic and helps in digestion of food. It is also used in making medicines for cough and cold. The rearing of honeybees on a large scale is known as APICULTURE. The place where bees are kept for this purpose is called an APIARY.</title>
