This piece, "Croaker's Quest for Belonging," tells the story of Croaker the frog who accidentally uses a miniature potion, causing his friends to forget him. Suddenly isolated, he feels he no longer belongs. His only hope is to find a glowing blue pumpkin charm. By using its magic to restore his friends' memories, Croaker proves that his presence is vital. The story relates to the theme by showing that true belonging isn't passive; it's actively earned through courage, love, and the effort to bring your community back together.

The movie is about a dragon who feels it is hard to make friends because she is shy exactly like me. She sees friends playing and wants to play but she is too shy. Then she goes away to hide. Then another dragon invites her to play and she plays with the dragon and her friends and that is how the dragon belongs. The dragon belongs with friends.

When I started making this film, I used to think belonging meant fitting in, wearing the same clothes, sitting with the same friends, and trying to be like everyone else. But while creating my story, I realized belonging is really about kindness. In my film, each act of kindness adds a patch to a backpack, like sewing little pieces of love that hold people together. Every smile and helping hand makes someone feel seen and cared for. I made this film to remind everyone that one small act of kindness can help someone feel they truly belong.

I don’t always know where I belong. This is why I created a movie, a conversation between me and a few historical figures and prehistoric creatures. This is based on my pastime of talking to historical figures in my head. And these conversations stem from my fascination for history and prehistory. I chose to make this since I have feelings of alienation, loneliness, and insecurity. I wanted this to resonate with the kids who have few friends, like me, and overall, celebrate history as we know it.

While creating my film Through My Eyes, I wanted to capture what it feels like to search for who you are. At first, Bella’s reflection is blurry and distant, showing the uncertainty I’ve sometimes felt inside. Belonging is being accepted and loved not despite your differences, but because of them. Your little quirks and peculiarities don’t make you an outcast. Rather, they make you more interesting. To belong, you don’t need to change yourself and let go of your idiosyncrasies. From the 8 billion people on this planet, no two people are the same, yet all 8 billion of us belong, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, beliefs, and other factors. Our differences aren’t the catalyst that drives us apart, but the glue that holds us together.

Trailer of My Life - In Theaters September 25, 2010 is my way of showing the world how I fit into the vast earth we call home. This film showcases how I grew up and grew into this world with the help of my family, friends, teachers, and everyone else along the way. To me belonging is feeling like you can truly be yourself, and through this film I felt that I was able to showcase a little bit of my silly, goofy, self to the world.
