The theme of my text set is cultural traditions, specifically food customs, since it is a huge component of culture. Each book discovers that there are certainly differences between food across many cultures and although it may seem strange or different, we can try something new and learn about other cultures as well as our own. Essentially, food creates a sense of unity and allows us to come together, no matter what culture an individual is from.

I discovered these books by going to my town's library and also, I had heard some of these books being read during my field observations in school. In addition, I had also used library blogs.

To ensure that each learner's needs are met, I made sure I found audio versions of each book, besides having a physical copy. Also, for multilingual learners, I will provide a vocabulary list of words in English, as well as their native language as well.

Lily and Salma are best friends who do everything together, they even eat their lunches together. However, they noticed how different their lunches looked from one another. While Lily eats a peanut butter jelly sandwich, Salma eats hummus on pita bread- and they both think each other's sandwich is gross and strange. Their disagreements come in between their friendship, and it even causes a food fight. Yet, the friends accept their differences and even try each other's lunch. Lily, Salma and her classmates even have a lunch with foods that come from all different cultures!

Carrie goes to find her brother and stops at each neighbor's house. Along the way, she goes from house to house and tastes their dinner.
