Introduction

When every RGS girl first steps into the school, she will go through special events with her juniors, seniors and peers that form the RGS experience. In Year 1, the badge initiation ceremony and Raffles Initiation sessions, as well as Mass Dance, which we work on as a batch. From these introductory bonding activities we participate in in Year 1, to the yearly events that strengthen our friendships, and finally Farewell Alma Mater (FAM), where we reflect on our 4 years in the school - our common experiences connect us to RGS students, past and present. We celebrate these shared memories and traditions because they bring us together as one RGS family.

Year 1 Mass Dance

Every batch of Year 1s is taught a mass dance unique to their batch that they perform during the school's sports festival.

Farewell Alma Mater (FAM)

Badge Initiation Ceremony

After completing a week of orientation programmes, students attend a badge initiation ceremony where they get their badges pinned on by their seniors and recite the pledge.

Raffles Initiation (RI) Sessions

Netball Carnival

I enjoyed your mini photo essay very much, and I think that the thesis does have a clear stand and reason and is aligned to all the photos and captions, especially the 'family" part of it which was especially rehashed with the group settings in every photo. However, I feel that the context and background information need to be elaborated on and right now, at first glance, I am not too sure of the timeframe.

The thesis statement has a clear stand and reason and is definitely supported by the photos and captions. I think the context and background information fits the photoessay as well. However, I have to agree with Shi Wen in that there is an unclear time frame in your photoessay.

I think that the thesis is clear and has a stand and reason supporting it. The captions and pictures are also aligned to the thesis. I think that the context and background information is pretty good however, maybe you can state that FAM is held in year 4 because that part is slightly unclear if I had not known what FAM is.

The thesis has a clear stand and reason and the photos are very much aligned to it so good job:) Perhaps you could make the time frame in which these activities take place more explicit and add in more events from Y2 and Y3 so that you really see it over the course of the whole RGS journey.

I think your introductory paragraph is clear and helps set the context for readers as to what the common experiences in RGS are, and about how they bond us. For your thesis, I feel that your photos don't showcase that these are RGS traditions because you can't tell that these common experiences have been repeated for many years through the photos.

I think your photos show the context and are arranged in a nice way to showcase the RGS girl's journey through shared experiences. However, your last photo, while showing the bond between the girls, does not have a clear context to show that they are RGS girls bidding farewell to RGS together on their last day.

I really like how the shared memories and traditions are brought across clearly in all the photos. However, the photos on the Netball Carnival and the FAM does not really bring across how they bring the students together as one RGS family.

Your thesis statement has a clear stand and a good reason to celebrate RGS. I don't think Netball Carnival is a tradition, but mostly the photos align with the thesis statement, as they show the students bonding, reflecting the "bring us together as one RGS family" part of the thesis statement.

I feel that your thesis is very concise and provides a clear stand on why we should celebrate RGS. Also, the photos that you have picked are very effective in supporting the stand.

I think the first 3 pictures were good, and your thesis is clear. the last 2 photos have a good concept but they somehow did not really go in the right direction to show and reflect your thesis statement. for netball carn you could have shown the students being brought together as one RGS family rather than just the students playing netball against each other.

I think the message portrayed in the RI session and badge initiation photos are quite similar so you could have left one out. Perhaps you could use RICE and OBS too instead of just having memories from just year one and four which makes the journey in between feel quite empty?

I like how in the photo essay you gave examples of activities from Y1 Orientation and Y4 FAM (which gives a complete timeline of sorts) but I think that the in between (aka Netcarn) seems a little abrupt? While all photos support the thesis, I thought it would be better if there can be an activity from each year (e.g. RICE, OBS) All in all, great job though! I really like your photo essay :D

I think that your intro paragraph is clear and the idea of shared memories and experiences are shown quite clearly. However, I don't think that "yearly events" is quite justified as most pictures are either of Y1 or Y4 (only the one of netcarn vaguely involves the other years, although it is not clearly stated). Perhaps you could include more batch specific pictures of Y2/ Y3 events?

I think the captions can be bit clearer as to how the pictures are related to the thesis. Although it is easy to infer how it is linked, it isn't written very clearly. But I like the thesis statement :D

I like the theme you have chosen very much! The pictures show the RGS journey in chronological order and captures the sense of community that follows its students throughout their 4 years. They very clearly showcase our common experiences.
