         <description><![CDATA[<p>Part 2: Nur Farisya (A20HP0178) &amp; Rozaika (A20HP0242)</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Title: </strong>Technology-Assisted Self-Regulated English </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Main findings of the article:</strong> The result of this study suggests three important findings. First, there is a positive correlation between self-efficacy and the Chinese university students’ technology-assisted SRL strategies. The Chinese students claimed that they are more confident with their English language abilities because the utilization of technology encourages them to receive instant feedback which allows them to reflect on their learning. Second, technology-assisted SRL strategies are proven to increase enjoyment among Chinese university students. Third, the study also found a significant correlation between technology-assisted SRL strategies and the students’ English learning outcomes. Self-regulated learning with technology allows learners to have some autonomy to progress in their learning at their own pace with the help of technology to assist them in setting goals, and monitor their progress in learning. This study was intended to assist various stakeholders in the education field such as in terms of creating an intensive curriculum, and upgrading the teacher's skills to provide a meaningful learning experience for learners by using technology-assisted self-regulated learning tools. It is crucial to incorporate the elements of technology into the foreign language curriculum to prioritize a student-centered learning approach to allow students to be more responsible with their learning progress. Furthermore, in regards to upgrading the teachers’ skills, it is significant for teachers to integrate various teaching strategies to cater to diverse proficiency and learning styles of the learners.</p>]]></description>

The authors were five researchers who explored the utilization of Chatbot technology in the context of Malaysian higher education institutions and was published by Elsevier Ltd.</p><p><br/></p><p>-What is the main finding?&nbsp;</p><p>This study revealed relevant insights into educational environments around the world in addition to helping to comprehend the unique opportunities and problems found in Malaysian higher education. Even if chatbot technology has advanced significantly, not much is known about its possible advantages for language learning, especially in Malaysian higher education universities. This mixed-methods study utilized the Push-Pull Mooring-Habit (PPMH) theoretical framework to investigate the experience of Malaysian university students in utilizing Chatbots for English language learning. The study specifically focused on four key aspects: <strong>Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Isolation, and the fear of Covid-19</strong>. After three months of working with chatbots, a questionnaire was completed through 360 undergraduate students from three public universities in Malaysia. The investigation indicates that Performance and Effort Expectations have a significant role in enhancing the positive user experience of utilizing Chatbots for language acquisition, hence acting as the motivating factors. Social isolation, characterized by artificial engagement, lack of emotion, and constrained discourse, acts as a motivating factor for utilizing chatbots in language learning. Overall, this application has a positive impact on students' English learning. As for the disadvantages, sometimes when users paraphrase their sentences using extreme scale, it may lead to different meaning. Once the AI receives the message, it generates the images based on the description. </p></li><li><p>Disadvantages: Currently, Cici AI cannot provide direct connections for online interactions between users and actual people. and the audio quality is robotic. The authors emphasize that students have a clear preference for technology-enhanced learning compared to traditional methods, as they find it to be more engaging and effective. CALL includes a range of digital tools, like computers, smartphones, and tablets, that help with language learning.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Part 1 : Nur Farisya (A20HP0178) &amp; Rozaika (A20HP0242)</p><p><br/></p><ul><li><p>The software or application we reviewed is "Learn English Grammar (UK ed.)" </p></li><li><p>This software or application aims to help primary school students, especially in their grammatical knowledge and skills. </p></li><li><p>This application is useful and practical as it provides learning notes as well as activities for different proficiency levels of learners to practice their English.</p></li><li><p>Next, &nbsp;it was also very easy to navigate through the application because the instructions were short precise and easy to understand even for first-time users.</p></li><li><p>However, there’s a lack of usage of multimedia as the apps mostly only consist of text, images and a small amount of audio files, which makes the application quite dull. </p></li><li><p>It is also difficult to seek immediate help or opinions regarding the questions on the application from the developer or the person in charge or to interact with other users because there is no such communication features provided in the application</p></li><li><p>Yes, we do recommend this application, especially to primary school students who are struggling to understand how grammar works.  </p></li></ul>]]></description>

Is often used as a learning platform by teachers to test students' knowledge while ensuring they are engaged and participating during the lesson.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>3.&nbsp;</p><p>Advantages</p><ul><li><p>Gamification makes learning more fun and increases students' motivation and interest in learning.</p></li><li><p>Upon completing the questions, Kahoot! Provides immediate feedback with the answer details as well which would help students to identify their area of improvements.</p></li><li><p>The interactive and collaborative nature of Kahoot! would increase students' participation which would enhance their understanding.</p></li></ul><p><br></p><p>Disadvantages</p><ul><li><p>Kahoot! fully relies on technology and internet connection. In general Kahoot! is a great learning platform as it offers quick learning and suitable to be adapted as activity filler during lessons. It would create an interactive and engaging learning experience which would definitely attract students' focus and interest. Recommended or not?</p><ul><li><p>Recommended for beginner language learners but not for advanced learners as this website provides limited practices for advance learners.</p></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Part 2 (Article Review)</strong></p><p><strong>1)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </strong>The article titled The Use of Duolingo Apps to Improve English Vocabulary Learning was written by Pangkuh Ajisoko in the year of 2020.</p><p><strong>2)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </strong>The focus of this research is to explore the use of Duolingo apps in improving students' vocabulary through tests. The findings show that there was a significant improvement in learners’ average scores. Pre-tests’ mean score was 44.75 meanwhile the post-tests’ mean score was 59.75. Most of the learners have increased their scores after the use of Duolingo. The improvement of the mean score is 0.678. Meanwhile, the questionnaire’s results showed that most of the learners agree that Duolingo makes learners interested in learning vocabulary where 75% of learners strongly agree and 17.5% agree. Simultaneously, most of the learners disagree that Duolingo is a boring, difficult, less useful, and less expensive app as 49% of the respondents strongly disagree and 48.5% disagree. Lastly, most learners agree that Duolingo provides advantages in learning vocabulary where 89% of learners strongly agree and 10% agree. In conclusion, it was found that almost all of the learners obtained a significant post-test score than the pre-test and showed a development in learners’ scores. The educators may apply the resources based on their own preference. It is also a user-friendly website which both native and non-native English speaker can visit it. </p><p>Disadvantages</p><p>- Some of the elements are stated premium and the users need to pay for certain contents.</p><p>Recommendation</p><p>Highly recommended as it is a good English website</p><p><br/></p><p>Part 2</p><p>Article Review</p><p><br/></p><p>We review an article about 'Integration of Gamification Technology in Education' by Derviş Kayımbaşıoğlu , Bora Oktekin and  Hüseyin Hacı.</p><p><br/></p><p>The main finding of this article is the importance of gamification among preschoolers.</p><p><br/></p><p>Based on the research, students shows a positive impact after applying gaification in the classroom, this method can attract students to learn in class, beside that, using gamification to teach language to students shows significant changes where students are more understanding to apply other language in their daily life</p>]]></description>

The targeted English language in this website is Vocabulary.</p></li><li><p>Advantages&nbsp;</p><p>1. Enhance listening comprehension. Train our brain to recognize the words and sounds of different languages. Listening to different accents and pronunciations gives your brain more flexibility.</p><p>2. Expand vocabulary. Learning new words and expressions in the context of song lyrics can be more effective than memorizing endless lists of isolated words or phrases.</p><p>Disadvantages&nbsp;</p><p>1. Limited genres of music.</p><p>2. Harmful influence exposure. The app alters the original music videos for each song, improper elements such as nudity, violence, drugs, and harsh language may appear in the video.</p><p>3. Lack of authentic communication. no real live communication platform presented other than during gameplay. This is because there is almost no platform for interaction among users provided in the app.</p></li><li><p>The implementation of this website into English lesson is recommended. The learning materials cannot be fully integrated into a curriculum as they do not cover all aspects of vocabulary learning. While the content aligns with the first stage of Bloom's taxonomy, Remembering, and fits the curricular goals for initial language acquisition, it is insufficient to be used on its own for comprehensive language education.</p></li></ol>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Part 2 (Nithiyaaanandhan Lechmanan)</p><p><br/></p><ol><li><p>Students’ perception of Kahoot!’s influence on teaching and learning by Ben Daniel and Jade Li George.</p></li><li><p>This article summarises the findings of a study that looked at how students interacted with the game-based Kahoot! student response system. Furthermore, based on our research, it is possible that using educational games in the classroom will reduce distractions and enhance instruction beyond what is possible in traditional classroom settings. Additional elements that improved students' learning were the development and incorporation of relevant information in Kahoot!, prompt feedback to students, and gameplay (gamification) techniques.<br></p></li></ol>]]></description>
