What I liked was that you used a lot of grammar, such as: even if, whether or not, If only, and clef sentences (what bothers me the most), and you also used expression as: lost the temper. I really enjoyed your video, you are a good actress. :)

I see what Lina´s article mean. According to her, the humor is valid anywhere we are, she exposed a study that claimed that the humor could reduce the stress and anxiety with such a great conclusion which is that the humor improve the creative and the productive; I agree when Lina said that humor is subjective, people have to be careful because not for all cultures apply the same jokes so we have to manage the humor in a correctly way, specially if we are doing business with people from different cultures, to conclude I couldn´t agree more when Lina wrote that people should think twice before to make a joke to avoid hurting people´s feelings. What an interesting point of view.

Humor personality is worthy in any context. People with a natural sense of humor are more visible and generate an appeal around them. Humor makes them more eligible for jobs, not only companies need to reduce the stress in the workplace but creativity and productivity comes with humor. As a matter of fact, it's recommendable use a little touch of humor in the job interviews in order to reduce the nervousness or anxiety and connect more easily with the employer. Added to this, managers might include humor in their meetings to increase participation, to catch attention and to be improve their image like a leader. By other hand, in the office people usually want to be near to the coworker who is more amused because they feel more open to talk about situations that in the opposite case they would not do it.

In relationships, this applies as well. It is well-known that woman choose funny guys over serious or intellectual ones. According with the PhD. Jeffrey Hall, associate professor at the University of Kansas in studies of sexual selection and humor courtship, by being funny men advertise their intelligence. He affirmed recently that he had had a sense about that theory hadn’t made any sense because he thought the attempt at being funny may be a sign of social facility or ability, but not a sign of intelligence.

Nevertheless, humor must be used with some of precaution in order to not offend others, especially whether in the office there are plenty of people with different backgrounds.

To sum up, humor is the best icebreaking between people and a therapy for dropping off the tension and pressure which are commonly high at work. For this reason, humor is one of the keys for a successful life and we should try to develop this skill and, apply it in our daily life.

However, people who create a humorous environment can help facilitate the work of people who work under stress.

How many times do you forget to laugh at work? Is a fact that the laugh has a lot of advantages, actually a bunch of studies said that laugh could cure some illness and worked as a therapy. So, if most of people spent 6 or 8 hours at work, why we can't use humor here? But first, we can talk about some advices that we have take into account in the moment to use humor. On one hand, take care, because you have to walk on eggshells with oversensitive people, specially if the joke go over their heads or maybe thay find the joke pretty offensive. Think a lot before talk because you can make a total fool of yourself if your joke is ridiculous. On another hand, I have no doubt that the humor at work is really benefitial for workers. First, humor creates a good and relax atmosphere, you will find very funny to go to work.
Important point at work is the workteam, these can be able to improve with the humor. I guess that if it werw not for the fact that people use humor at work, the leves of stress would increase more and more.
Nevertheless, I am under the impression that when people do not know how to control theirselves, the humor can become indiscipline or may be people can lose the focus on their task.
All in all, the humor is a good way to work and feel comfortable with your job and co-workers, so is a good idea use it in order to improve your emotions.

But not everyone thinks the same, the humor could be a double-edged sword. And that why we are going to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of humor.

On one hand humor helps to deal with the stress that the employees have, at the same time that motivates them to work because they will have a more friendly atmosphere which would make them feel comfortable. Otherwise they are not going be boosted to learn and be efficient. Moreover it encourages the communication between workers and clients.

On the other hand, if you don't know when to use humor, it could be harmful. Before make a joke about a sensible topic, be sure that all people around you are good sports and they are not going to take it personally. When I just arrived at the Barajas International Airport I passed by all the security controls, but when I arrived at the claim baggage zone, my bag did not appear. I had to go to the luggage tracking office, where someone told me that my luggage had not been able to embark due to inconveniences of weight and balance on the plane. However, the attendent said that this would be sent as soon as possible in a nearest flight.

My suitcase arrived three days later, and I had to buy clothes during this time. I was not going to be with the same clothes all days. Once I recieved my suitcase, I notice it shown physical damages. The suitcase had one cover broken and people of the airline had to wrap it in plastic type to avoid the clothes were coming off. It is unprecedented in a prestige company like Avianca.

Learning English language for expanding labor choices

Task unit 8, plan B

By, Edgar Leonardo Suarez Pineda.

Actually, I am in my forties and I have no worries. But, let me explain about my past, present and future. When I was teenager I was not good at having a head for figures, having an ear for music and having a knack for learning languages. However, I was good at having a knack for playing sports and having an eye for detail (I mean systemic thinking).

Well, I told my father two years before ending the secondary school, “That either I wanted to be a police officer or an army officer." My father agreed and replayed, “It’s your choice." And he suggested that I be study another career in order to have more jobs’ options. Years later after getting my degree as a police officer I decided to take up business administration and then I got my business administration degree.

Fortunately, I decided to resign from the police after working for 21 years and I got my pension. Thirteen mounts later I began to learn English language. It’s important that I get a high level in English language allows applying for a job abroad. I find that learning English has been a little bit difficult. Even so, I do work on my weak skills and I do use several learning strategies according with the weak skill. Sometimes I do have work on listening or speaking. It’s essential that I be a proactive learner to improve and develop a better using of the English language.

To sum up, not only is it crucial learning English for working purposes but also is definitively important for health (the brain avoiding getting lazy and sick) and expand the labor choices in other fields and countries. Another issue is never losing the interest and happiness for learning because it means we are alive.

By María Paula Ávila R

I'm a veterinarian graduated from “Universidad de La Salle” and since I decide on this career I do have been aware of my responsibility not only with animal's life and owner's feelings, but also with the society. As a consequence, it's crucial that I improve my skills in diagnosis and treatment in the area of “Small Animal Medicine”, in order to guarantee an adequately develop of my professional activity and be able to achieve my dream goal, have my own veterinary clinic. Therefore, I'm going to apply to a Master's degree in Spain the next year, but if I were rejected by the University, I do have a plan B.

What I really need is more experience and thus if I can not acquire this from the Master, I would find another way. My plan B is apply for a job in a veterinary clinic here in Colombia with someone who is willing to teach me, it's necessary that I be trained on the most important aspects of the practical part of my profession. I do have a way with animals and through these five years studying I develop a series of skills in the field, such as: clinical examination, assistance in surgical and urgence interventions, collection of biological samples, capturing and handling wild animals, and so on. However, I do have a desire for keep learning and having the opportunity to be taught by professionals who have been working in this field for a long time will give me the confidence to be able to handle different situations by myself. Nevertheless, the unemployment rate of veterinarians is approximately 80%, hence it's very likely that finding a job will be difficult and if that is the case, I will have to offer me as a volunteering.

Be a volunteer in a veterinary clinic could be a great experience, not only will I face problems on a daily basis, but also deal with a mix of owner's and colleague's personalities that could help me to improve my teamwork, leadership, problem-solving and people skills. In addition, I will have the experience that I need to open my own veterinary clinic. To sum up, even if I'm not accepted to the Master, I will figure out a way to keep going and reach my goal.

IF I WERE….

IF I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY

Currently I’m a primary teacher in a school, I teach in 3rd and 4th grades, this profession is awesome because I learn different topics related to science and social studies, children are affectionate, curious and creative, I love teaching due to the different challenges in the classroom and it’s a dynamic profession. However, I review my past and I was thinking about 12 years ago. What would happened if I choose a different career? When I was at school I was good at social sciences like philosophy, social studies, political sciences and history, I loved learning about geography, culture, ideologies and social movements. My teachers encouraged me to this interesting subject.

When I was studying Spanish and languages at Pedagogic University, I perceived that I have a way with words because I wrote good essays and I expressed in a good way my ideas, in that moment, my favorite readings were biographies of political leaders and literature. Furthermore, I do have a way with people because I concern about people’s necessities and their social conditions.

If I had been studying politics, I would have been working in an important political or social organization, perhaps I wish I would work in an embassy or I would be working in an important publishing house as a writer. There are many opportunities related to this field. Nevertheless, under these circumstances, I proud of being teacher because I can combine many of these different issues and in the future, I will apply to a Master’s degree that connect these two amazing fields.

To sum up, in our country it is crucial that people develop their thoughts in a critical way to change our present and future, and the best way to achieve this is through the education, teachers have a difficult task every day, every year. Mandela said that education was the most powerful weapon, which you could use to change the World. According to this quote, the opportunity is now or never, all humans are political keep in mind.

By Santiago Calderon Escobar.

I really do not know so well how to start this text because my plan A is still a mystery even for me, but I will try.

Since my childhood I discovered I has a way with words because it was pretty easy for me to express my thoughts even at my short age. Also, I have always had a way with people because it has been really simple for me to create connections with the people that surround me. Furthermore, I have recently discovered I have a knack for languages because honestly, I do not practice so much the languages out of the classes but, when I have to use them they flow as a river like if it did be innate. In addition, I consider I have an above average emotional quotient because I know how to deal with people’s feelings.

Just to say something, my plan A is to study international relations so, my plan B could be to be a teacher of languages. My father has always told me “It is crucial for you be sure what you really want to study. I recommend you choose something you do enjoy now and you will keep loving it through the time”. So, I consider that to become a teacher could be an awesome plan B. I have pictured myself as a teacher and I guess that with all the abilities I have, I would be a good one.

To conclude, No matter what your dream is, to keep being persistent is totally necessary. The more you try, the more you approach to your dream.

To do that its crucial that they do a announcement about environmental engineer. It's important to be patient because not only it would be hard but also is it a long process.

If a want to apply I need to present some physical and psychological test to demonstrate that i have the characteristics that they need If I do that I could develop new skills and at the same time apply my knowledge about environment

Thinking in a plan b for my life is difficult because if I hadn't been choose psychologist as a profession, I wouldn't know what to do. However, if I were need to ask me for another life style, I reckon that I would travel to United States to improve my English, even if I need to work as a baby sister. Actually, it is essential for me to have contact with children because I hold the opinion that I born to serve to them. I always recommend to people that they have to do the things that they love.

In another way, from my point of view, it is really difficult to do your own business in our country but some teacher suggest me that I would have my own office and my own patiences. Maybe, start your own business would be a good option for plan B but I suggest you walk on eggshells with law and taxes.

My plan could be too, study an specialization or master, or why not, other mayor to acquire more abilities and complement my career, as far as I consider, I have some abilities that will permit me to do almost any work.
