Citons par exemple le personnage de Herlock Sholmès, adversaire d'Arsène Lupin chez Maurice Leblanc ou, plus récemment, la romancière Nancy Springer qui invente au détective une sœur que le lecteur peut suivre dans Les Enquêtes d'Enola Holmes.
