A single note is the heart, melody and rhythm of a song. It can fend off an easy enchantment to the listeners. I agree with Ratliff's argument regarding this musical element single notes lure you as the stubborn one makes you go away. The repetition of the same tone is very adequate in music all over that is what grabs the people listening to the music. It makes the listener memorize the song. In the song " I want to be Sedated" , by The Ramones, you can hear the repetition of notes being played over and over again. It makes you have no choice but to pay attention to the song and memorize it. In "Like you" by Bow Wow the same single notes being played over and over draws you in and makes you memorize the simple tone being played over. Plus it makes you memorize the lyrics of the song easier because of the melody and repetition.
