For over two years these men have been building houses out of the land that they are on. They use mostly mud, water, and the trees around them to make these unforgettable houses. This video shows how much people can truly do with the land and nature around them.

Although the creation in this video is probably way too complex, it shows how much people can rely on nature to provide you with the essential things. The smiles and joy that building these houses brings to these men, shows how fun this can actually be.

Even though this video might not have a huge impact, and people might just be watching it for enjoyment, it still gets the point across of how much nature means to people and especially Emerson and Thoreau.

Izzie Stevens is a character in one of the most popular television shows “Grey’s Anatomy” and she plays a main role until about the sixth season. Izzie was definitely someone who stood up for what she believed in, she always wanted to get her way and fought until she got it. The best example of this is in season 2, episode 27 when she cut a patient's lvad wire.

Although Izzie knew what she was doing was wrong, she still did it anyway because she thought it could save the patient's life. Sadly, the patient ended up dying, and the interns got in a lot of trouble for what she did.

While I don’t think this is exactly what Emerson and Theorau had in mind when talking about intuition over reason, this is a great example of it. Izzie trusted her instincts, but things didn't go as planned, she learned a huge lesson from doing this, and will never make the same mistake again.

Snoop Dogg is someone who lives a very simple life, and it talks about it in his song called, “The Good Good.” All throughout this song he talks about how he has finally found someone who understands him, and how he never wants to lose them.

In the lyrics he says, “This is the good good, This is what people look all their lives to find, And baby, we found it, Right on time, This is the good good, And now that we got it, We gotta keep it going strong, going strong.” He is saying that they found the good in life, and he only needs her to keep going in life.

This ties into what Emerson and Thoreau were saying because Snoop Dogg only needs his girl to keep going in life and doesn’t need anyone else. He doesn’t need a lot of people or friends, he just needs her.

Peeta is one of the main characters in the movie “The Hunger Games” and all throughout the movie he has to rely on himself to survive. By being able to hunt and find food for himself, it was a big part in keeping him alive during this movie. Also, him being able to protect himself from the others played a big part in him surviving until the end.

Although there were many times Peeta faced adversity, he fought until the end to survive. He did everything he needed to do in order to keep going and living.

Peeta was able to provide for himself, and rely on himself to make it to the end of the hunger games. He was able to provide all the essentials he needed. When Emerson and Thoreau are talking about self-reliance, Peeta Mellark is a spitting image of it.

Almost everything Miley Cyrus has recently done is an example of being a nonconformist. The thing that stands out the most is how she dresses and how she acts. In interviews with Howard Stone and Rolling Stone, Cyrus says that, “My hair is some sort of reflection for my sanity, my sexuality, my sobriety.” Therefore, she expresses herself through her unique hairstyles, and her overall style.

Although Miley Cyrus has done some really crazy things, she still goes against society, and becomes her own person. She gets a good amount of hate for being who she is, but she doesn’t let that stop her from standing out.

By going against society and dressing the way she does, she brings in a lot of attention. She expresses herself through her music, and in her most famous music video, “Wrecking Ball” there are many examples of things that society would consider “weird” in that video. Miley would definitely be considered one of the greats if we were still in the era of the Transcendentalists.
