If I didn't know any better I would say that they are brothers since they talk to each other and see each other so much. On the last paragraphs of the story it shows how close they really are, it shows that they don;t care who wins they just care about there relationship.

For starters, we can easily distinguish the relationship between the two by the title. The word "Amigo" can directly be translated to "Friend". If the entire title were to be English, it would be translated directly to "The Friend Brothers". There are more pieces of evidence throughout the story, like how Felix calls Antonio "Panin", which means Pal or buddy in the Spanish language. They also don't really call each other by name, rather "Brother", "Panin", etc. Also, at the end of the fight, they hug each other as a sign of their friendship.

Throughout the battle in their head they are thinking about what their opponent is going to do next since they don't think either of them are a pushover. Near the end of the story when the third round comes to a close and the announcer is about to answer who won, the boys both leave together because they both know "they would always be champions to each other" (lines 323-324). I can tell that Felix and Antonio respect each other in many ways. Especially in their boxing match they both leave before they announce the winner so that nothing comes between them and their strong bond. It shows throughout the story on how they would never let anything come between them and their brother-like friendship. They do many things to try and help each other. Felix stays away from Antonio the few days before their fight so it would help them not think of each other. They train and practice with each other a lot and give each other helpful things for when the fight comes. Also, in the end they hugged each other at the end of the fight which shows respect.

Cameron Rego- Felix and Antonio had different body sizes and looks, but they still played the same sport. In the story, it says that Felix was dark short and husky. It said that Antonio was fair, lean, and lanky. This lead to their playing style being a lot different. Felix would usually throw one big punch that would be very powerful, because of his strength and weight. On the other side, Antonio would move around quicker and throw quick punches because of his agility.

Antonio and Felix have always trained together to go professional and then they found out in the championship of a lightweight tournament. They wanted both of the players to look really good while they were fighting. And that what they did. Also, after the third and final round, Felix and Antonio were going to face off at the end to see which boxer deserved to win the trophy, but the two amigos started hugging each other and ran out of the ring.
