Some things I would try while teaching is to incorporate different kinds of activities via different mediums; use both physical, paper activities for students to fill out and other online forums or activities such as padlet or discussion boards.

The backwards planning flow was also really helpful for thinking about building courses and course material from the initial learning objectives or outcomes.

For starters, the planning process of the syllabus that we discussed seems like the most effective way to create a strong structure for the class, so I will definitely be implementing that.

Also, I will definitely be trying some of the online options to create activities on the platforms. These could be valuable for special activities/assessments, and as a good complement for the written activities that I would prefer to have in the day-to-day sessions.

I plan to organize the course with a clear and coherent structure. For each topic, I plan to include a low-stakes quiz to help students reinforce key concepts, small-group discussions to encourage engagement and critical thinking, and multiple short writing assignments that invite them to connect the course material to their own life experiences.

One of the main goals I'd like to implement is incorporating different types of writing assignments in the class. In order to encourage students to develop their own writing style and critical thinking, I want to balance opportunities for low-stakes, more informal writing with those that are a little more analytical and rubric-driven. Having an online discussion board in addition to a 10-minute in-class writing assignment during certain class periods could help with that.

I hope to try different activities to increase class engagement. I want to apply different media of activities, different forms of discussion, to create excitement throughout the semester to keep things fresh for students and get their attention.
