The people of Egypt believed in up to 700 gods, but gods were picked and chosen for some based on needs and life aspects. The pharaoh also played a large part on what god was focused on at 1 point of time. Egyptians believed that the soul lived on in the afterlife, but still needed the body. They would remove important organs such as the stomach but they would wrap the heart and put it back in the body.
