I especially love that you included the BC curriculum connections, and I really appreciate your use of backwards planning–it is how my mind usually works too!

One suggestion I have is to add a brief rationale for why you chose this particular text type among the three options we were given (e.g. you believe your students need more control of, one whose structure you would like to become better at teaching, one that's important to a particular academic discipline). This is actually part of the rubric (more backwards planning!), so it might be helpful to make that thinking explicit.

Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed your detailed lesson on the water system. Your passion and experience as an educator really shine through!

I've never heard of realia. I'm curious, what is realia and how does it support your language-sensitive teaching?
