Preparation: There are three serves in total in this video, in all the three serves, I was standing facing towards the opponent, in none of the serves I was standing slideways, I hold the racket correctly, and my feet basically spread shoulder width when standing. Overall, I think the preparation would be at a 5 at the beginning.

Action:

Spin: No spin is found in the serve, 1-2

Position: no much position control can be found, the ball always go straightly towards the middle, however, the ball always land on the opponent's side, 3-4

Power: not much power control can be found, in all the serves, the ball goes too high since it hits the table too hard, so that in all the serves, the opponent can easily catch the ball. Therefore, I would give it a 3-4.

Overall, I think I am at a 3 in action

Finishing:

After the serves, I always intend to get back to the standing position, however I don't think that would be considered immediately, but it took about 1-2 seconds to react, therefore, i would consider myself to be at a 6 but closer to seven band on this area

Overall, I can be definitely consider at a beginner level of backhand serving in table tennis at the start of this training, where I had no understanding about the skill at all.

successful training

This is the 4/5 training session, which is a fixed training on the position and the fluency of slicing in the action phase, I am attempting to get the serve landing closer to the target ball (like around 10 cm) using backhand serve, then if I succeed, the position of the target ball will be adjusted to another position. I think this training was successful, due to the impact it had a signiance impact on my position, and impacted the power of my serves as well. Since it is so influential, I consider this as my most successful training.

First of all, as it is shown in the video, the landing position gradually get closer to the target. Since the position of the target is fixed, I would be able to consider how to improve the the position the ball hits on my table to adjust the landing position of the ball on the opponent table, and by the repetition, I would be able to gain experiences on controlling the power of my serves, since I have to keep the some power to get the adjustment only from the dropping position on my side of the table that is controllable. it can be seen that all the balls goes to basically same height and had similar velocity, due to the control on the power. More importantly, I would be able to gain experience or become familiar of serving the ball to different areas on the table, since I adjust the position of the target frequently, therefore, I think the training improved a lot on my position. even more, by continuously using backhand slicing to serve, I get more practice on the spin as well. Overall, as a fix training, it helped a lot on my position, and as the by products, my power control was improve, and my spins were also to some extend improved.

Although this training was effective, it still did not help on the preparation and recovery phases, which I would say is a inconvenience of the fixed training.

not successful training

This is the 3/5 training session, the reason I think this session did not help much was because in the prior session, I did the same training, where I focused on specifically spin, where as in this session, I repeated the training of session 2, where I have attempted a fixed training session where I only hit the ball with backhand slicing, so that we practice the action phase of the skill. The reason I think this training was ineffective is because I don't think this training session would improve much on my skill development as a whole(as from a beginner to cognitive stage), since in fact this backhand slicing training only let me practice on the spin and to some extend power in a serve, which can be shown by some fluent and obvious backhand slicing in the video, based on the rubric, the spin would be able to be consider a 7-8 band, since we attempted to spin for every return, serve etc. and we reflected on how to improve on the spin, then we became for fluent and more like cognitive players in terms of spin.

Although I would consider this training was effective on the practice of spin, however since this is a fixed practice, I got to only work on the parts of the skill, which is slicing backhand serve. Although during the practice, we were able to practice some power and accuracy, nonetheless since we are beginner we could not consider all the aspects of the skill, whereas if we focused on the spin, we would than have less control on the power and accuracy, that can be shown by the first two serves in the video, in both serves, the ball did not bounce ever the net, although there are some spins, that is because I had less control on the power use, so the ball did not bounce at a correct height, while I did not have position control since the ball just did not land on the opponent's side. By repeating the same training session, I have only work on the particular aspect of this skill which is the spin, therefore, I would have only two more sessions to practice on all the aspects including: preparation, finishing, power, and position. Even though I would be able to practice preparation and finishing in one whole-part-whole session since I started decent on the two areas and they would be able to practice together as a whole, I would still not be able to cover all the aspects of the skill, therefore I would have a less fluent preparation etc. Therefore, in terms of the skill development of a beginner as a whole, this training did not consider much of time arrangement.

Preparation:

In all three serves, the legs were spread shoulder width, the body stand sideway with the dominant side towards the opponent. The racket was hold correctly. overall, I would give myself a 7 for preparation

Action:

Spin: All the balls except for the second one flyed in an obvious curve (from left to right) orientation, where I would consider the spin to be at 7-8 band

Position: The balls all landed close to the net and towards the right, which would be considered as a good control on position, so that would be at 7-8.

Power: The power was nicely controlled, so that the ball barely flyed over the net, which would. be considered adequate amount of power used.

Recovery:

After the serves, I always intend to recovery, however it always take a moment for me to react, it can be shown by that I always wave my arm during the serve, and after hitting the ball, my arm still waves, but not immediately controlled and recover. Overall, I would consider that a 6.

Overall, at the end of the training, I was at a cognitive level of backhand serving, I gain some understanding about the skill, however, I was still not able to always be fluent and well control on all my serves like an autonomous player.
