Something that I found very surprising is that in 30 or so years, the worlds sea food supply might run out if we don’t do something preventing it. On page 1 the text states “The worlds sea food supply might run out by 2048 if a decline in marine species continues at its current rate...” This can show that if we don’t stop fishing and catching immense numbers of fish in our oceans, our fish supply will be extinct within 30 years. Therefore, this is what I found surprising in the text “Hook, Line, and Sinker”.

Based on the article “Hook, Line, and Sinker”, I found interesting that Americans ate the most sea food. I thought people only surrounded by sea would be eating the most sea food. The text states “on average, they consumed, or ate, 15.8 pounds each in 2010.” This is scary for fish because if people keep overfishing, fish depeltion will stop people from having their normal amount of seafood. which means that they won’t have as much food as they used to.

This is what I found interesting about the text Hook, Line, and sinker.

I found the section What’s tp Blame? Very interesting in the article. It explains how the fishing industry gets 80 billion dollars a year. To me this is crazy. It goes on to explain that the amount of edible seafood is decreasing rapidly but its not to late to change it. This whole section was very eye opening and makes people aware of the danger our ocean is in. That is what I found surprising and interesting in the article.

It defenitly shows how popular fish are and the demand for them. I also found it interesting that shrimp was the most popular seafood. Don’t get me wrong, I love shrimp, but I think that salmon, tuna or cod would have been the top seafood eaten. That is what I found interesting about this article
