Hand out a lolli pop stick to everyone in the class and get them to write their name on it. Place the lolli pop sticks into a jar. Whenever you are asking the class a question or assigning jobs, take a random stick from the jar and the student who's name emerges has to do this task. This ensures total randomness in teacher selection and removes potential problems such as favoritism or only asking students with hands up. It is especially useful when creating groups for group projects, as it means there will be nobody left out.

An indication using plastic cups, the students will be given a stack of three cups, one red, one orange and one green. If students are finding a task particularly difficult they will place the red cup on top to indicate to the teacher that they need help. Green means they are OK and orange means they are slightly confused. It is a good system as the students wont have to publicly ask for help and they may find it a more engaging way to do so.
