Question: Knowing Macbeth acted violently and determined when he found out he was destined to be King, how would you react differently knowing you are destined to be King?

Evidence: "Come what come may, time and the hour runs through the roughest day." (1.3.152-153)

Explanation: This textual evidence shows us that Macbeth was willing to do anything to gain the crown. This caused for Macbeth to lose his life for having bad ambition. When Macbeth found out he was destined to be King, he was confused but gained confidence. Despite this, he let his confidence get the best of him and turn him into a violent person.

Question: How does a person's mentality affect individuals around them?
Explanation: A person's mentality affects individuals around them especially when in power because when rising in power, a person's mentality will change, and can cause them to do things they will not normally do, which can cause a leader to become an oppressive dictator and create a dictatorship.
Evidence: "So is he mine; and in such a bloody distance that every minute of his being thrusts against my near'st of life. And though I could with barefaced power sweep him from my sight and bid my will avouch it" (3.5.119-123).

Question:
Explain why either of the following factors, is the most important factor that leads to corruption: ego, ambition, power, .

Evidence:
"Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell
That summons thee to heaven or to hell" (2.1. 64-65).

Explanation:
With this piece of evidence, we can make a connection to how Trujillo (Trujillo & the Mirabal Sister) and Edward Finklestein (Ego and Ambition) had plenty of ambition, like Macbeth, which caused them to continuously push for more, eventually leading to corruption and their own downfall.

Question:Would you have been persuaded to kill in order to full fill your ambition?
Evidence: "It is too full o'th' milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way: thou wouldst be great, Art not without ambition, but without the illness should attend it." (1.5.4-7)
Explanation: This is demonstrating that some people want to accomplish something but sometimes do not have what it takes. Macbeth for instance has wanted the throne but he has to many human attributions such as kindness and can't be easily persuaded by Lady Macbeth into killing the king.

Question: How does the play Macbeth and the article "Trujillo & the Mirabal Sisters" show that ambition can corrupt people?
Evidence: "For Banquo's issue have i filed my mind; For them the gracious Duncan have I murdered: Put rancors in the vessel of my peace only for them; mine eternal jewel given to the common enemy man, to make them kings," (3.1.68-73)
Explanation: After Macbeth got crowned to be king his ambition started to get worse, to the point where he started being corrupt. Anybody that got in his way and anybody who got he felt threatened he would sent people to kill them.

Question: Describe the events that might have occurred if Macbeth hadn't killed Duncan?

Evidence: "If chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me" (1.3.147-148)

Explanation: If Macbeth hadn't killed Duncan then he wouldn't have been feeling guilty and wouldn't have put Lady Macbeth in the situation she was in. Macbeth should have let fate take over and then he wouldn't have harmed anybody and would have been viewed as a noble and innocent man.
