         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><strong>DNA or RNA genome</strong>: This is a neither a&nbsp; DNA or RNA genomic viral infection.&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Enzymes</strong>: No enzymes are transmitted with the virus. However, it was found that keratinase on the brain tissue can degrade the prion completely.</li><li><strong>Protein capsid</strong>: There is no protein capsid.</li><li><strong>Other protein layers</strong>: The virus does not have any other protein layers besides the first initial layer.          <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><strong>Vaccine/treatment</strong>: There is no treatment or cure for CDJ. Opiates and other drugs are used to relieve pain before death. The only way to avoid spreading the disease is&nbsp; taking precautions when treating someone with CDJ.&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Mortality Rate:</strong>&nbsp; CDJ has a 100% mortality rate.</li><li><strong>Host Organism:</strong> CJD infects human (usually around age 60).          <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1987 a cow in Surrey, England developed an unusual neurological disease. The cows were killed and their brain were studied. It was discovered (by MAFF) that these cows had an entirely new disease. It is theorized that MAFF has seen cattle with this disease before, but there was no action  taken. Soon there was a mad cow (BSE) epidemic in England.
