Fergueson. Interestingly my search for separate but equal brought up this image which was part of the article posted at the site below.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/history-racism-against-mexican-americans-clouds-texas-immigration-law-n766956

“Life is so good, and it gets better every day.” (Dawson and Glaubman)

This quote from the novel reminds me all about how you can use every day to improve yourself and become a better person. This also shows how life only improves over time and can become even more exciting.

Chapter 6 "I was twelve but had never been alone like that before. In our cabin, I shared a bed with my brothers and sisters" (pg 53). Up until I was five my bed was always in my moms room so I never had the feeling of being alone when I went to bed. When I was five my little sister was born and my mom thought it was best if I got my own room, so I moved into the playroom upstairs. I remember some nights it was hard to fall asleep because it was so different to sleep alone. If I was ever scared my mom was right next to me but now she was in a different room so I can relate to how George felt.

"That night, their sounds added to my loneliness...But that first night, even under my blanket, I shivered and I cried till I fell asleep" (54 Dawson and Glaubman)
I've had many nights where I felt alone and I would curl up under blankets and cried for hours. It was being alone. I had used to sleep in the same room as my younger sister until I had gotten until middle school and my parents decided we should have separate rooms and even though she was annoying it was nice to have someone to talk to when you can't sleep and now I have no one.

"I decided I would do the right thing every day and leave trouble alone . There wasnt nothing more that I could do"(page 63 Dawson and Glaubman).
When I was about 6 I had a star wars pug and play video game for my downstairs TV tht I loved to play. One day i was told that I was only allowed to play after I finished cleaning my room. I however did not share that ideology. I shoved all of my things into my closet and told my dad that I was done cleaning my room so that I could play my game. My plot was discovered soon after and I was in big trouble. I got chewed out by my parents and felt disappointed in myself that I had done such a thing. From then on I tried my best not to lie and also to stay on a good path. I can relate to Georges story about how he wanted to stay on a good path from now on because that is what I felt facing my parents disappointment

I still remember, the fur was soft and smooth (Dason 31)." I can still remember the first time my dad came home with my dog. Ive never had a dog before so i was very excited to finially get one. I never would of guessed that i wouldve made as strong of bond as i did with her. She was always there to keep me company when i really needed it. I remember how excited we both were to meet each other for the first time

I found a quote on page 63 that I connected with. The quote reads "...I decided I would do the right thing every day and leave trouble alone. There wasn't nothing more than I could do." I connected with this quote because I often feel like I have to do everything correctly and that i cannot make mistakes. I try to avoid trouble the best I can and leave others to themselves as to not risk getting into conflict.

Personal Memory
"So caring for them was new to me, but i liked the horses...if a person treated a horse right, i found that you could talk to a horse and it would listen." (pg 57)

Since I was little I've felt connected to horses because my mom loves horses. My mom had a horse named Barra when she was my age. That's where my interest in horses began.
My moms friends started up their own farm with a few cows then they got ahold of two young horses. A male named Beaux and a female named Sophie. I got to learn the basics of horse care and i was able to help build their barn and stacked hay as well.
