What does it mean to feel alone?

Feeling alone does not necessarily mean you are alone. You may have all of these people around you wanting to help and support you, but you still feel alone. You feel like you cant talk to anybody about what you are dealing with or simply how your day was. Maybe you can tell them but you feel that they don't care. Feeling alone means shutting yourself down and staying alone

The bird was denied his freedom... this bird was denied the most important right he had. Being denied something which should never ever be denied of a person is scarring. Even after this bird is released he will always fear the cage. He will always fear the man who caged him and denied him of his freedom. The bird will look around wherever he goes to make sure there is not a cage in site. This bird will be forever scared and forever fearing the man with the cage.

The net result is that the lonely experience higher levels of cumulative wear and tear.

In other words, we are built for social contact. There are serious—life-threatening—consequences when we don't get enough. We can't stay on track mentally. And we are compromised physically.

Dantes was taken away from his family and everyone he knew and was put in jail. No chance to say goodbye, no chance to prepare himself mentally for his fate. Then he had to stay for 17 years. Its not like he went to jail for a few months a year but 17 long years. I haven't even been alive that long. This must have been awful. He had 3 seconds to get used to and accept the life he would have for the next 17 years. A life of loneliness. Yes, he was surrounded by people, but he was still alone. The friend he did had died which allowed him to escape and he was grateful for that, but he still lost a friend. Dantes spent 17 years alone surrounded by walls which kept him in, and his family out.

Most people are involved with social media one way or the other. The use of Facebook effected those college kids in a very important way. It effected their grades. Regardless of why their grades were lower if they used Facebook to communicate with their piers. Social media always effects us some way somehow it just not right under our noses.
