It usually involves identifying the problem, understanding the problem, collecting data, analyzing the data, and so on. As an example, I want to find out how COVID-19 impacts education, so I have to do research to discover both positive and negative effects of COVID-19 in education.

Prospective study design is a method of study which we use to find the outcome of an event or what is likely to happen in the future. For instance, we use prospective study design to predict what will happen to Cambodian’s youth as there are many beers selling and promoting everywhere.

Variable refers to the condition or something that is different from one person to another, changeable from time to time, and easy to measure. For example, the amount of time spending on doing one task. Every person will spend variable period of time, it could be change due to several factors, and it is easy to measure from other people.

Qualitative research is a kind of research that we interview our interviewees by letting them answering our questions base on their own knowledge, belief or understanding in an open way without giving choices. For instance, we want to know how an outstanding students spend their time on their self-study. Then, we use qualitative research to let them tell us about their self-study habit.

Empiricism defines as hard evidences collected from real-life experience or observations. As an example, we want to know how an outstanding student behave during class, so we go and collect the information when they are studying by looking and analyzing their behavior.

1. Research is a process for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting information in order to answer research questions. Basically, the research has two categories, pure research and applied research.

2. Prospective study design: In the study design perspective, there are two types of variables have been defined, active variables and attribute variables.

- Active Variable: is the variables that can be manipulated, change or controlled. (Ex: teaching method)

- Attribute Variable: is the variable that cannot be manipulated, changed or controlled, and that reflects the characteristics of the study population. (Ex: ages, genders...etc.)

3. Variable is a characteristic of the concept or an image that can be measured. A concept that can be measured is a variable, such as height, age, or exam score.

4. Qualitative research is a research study that collects date or analyses in text (non-numeric). Mostly, it focus on the options and experiences in specific topic. The researcher conducts their interview through the questionnaires.

5. Empiricism is a foundation concept in research methodologies that focuses on knowledge that gain from observation and experience. It meant that the data that we collect by seeing, hearing, and measuring things, rather than just rely on thoughts or guesses. This approach values the facts-finding and evidence to support ideas and theories.
