He doesn't speak much in this chapter, but he is at the lunch where Henry is, and we learn about his past and his mother who was American. His mother and father were from different classes, mother was from upper class and the father was from the lower class. This relationship was disliked by the mother parents and therefore she was disowned. The father was especial offended and made someone have duel with the father and the father lost. After Dorians berth the mother also didn't hold very long and died after a year.
In the present Dorian is enamored by Henry and believes a lot of stuff Henry says as he is young and doesn't realize like other that these things are horrible and should not be believed.

Dorian is sad and discussed that Sibyl be so foolish to lose the only thing (her acting) he loved about her. In proses revealing that their love was 2d dimensional in his eyes all along. Having been hurt by Sibyls lack of acting skills that night and embarrassing him in front of his friends he strikes back with hurtful and mean comments. Oh and the portrait has changed to look more harsh and cold.

Henry is sure it is not Dorian's fault that Sibyl killed herself, because he could never do such a horrible thing. He convinces Dorian that Sibyl's death is a beautiful tragedy and that he himself is jealous of Dorian as no women would do what Sibyl did for Dorian. Also saying that Sibyl really never lived so either way, if it was Dorian fault, he was not kilning her. Later going with Dorian to the opera to take tha mind of things.
