Prior to launching the church in 2000, he served as a lead pastor at Calvary Bible Church. David Henderson raised sufficient startup funds for Venture Church and has grown it to a 500-person congregation over the course of two decades. In addition to serving as lead pastor of the Harrisburg church, David Henderson oversees all fund-raising, staff recruitment, and leadership development activities. He also created the church's oversight teams, including its Discipleship Team, Marriage Mentor Team, and Mission Team. Moreover, he spearheads local ministry programs such as Movies in the Park and Joy Prom. His mission efforts extend outside of his local community. Under his leadership, Venture Church has conducted global mission work in Mexico and Ethiopia. It sponsors more than 130 children and funds six pastors in Ethiopia.
