I think her biggest fear is never knowing who she is, especially after knowing her father died without knowing what he was.

Derek: Half fairy/fae Derek is as sweet as they come. He's respectful of Kylie and her boundaries even though he really wants a full on relationship. one of his powers are reading emotions so whenever he's with kylie he can tell what she's feeling and that's both good and bad. but in the end he see's it as bad because he can tell when she feels guilty about thinking about Lucas. he decides that he needs to take a break figure out how to control his powers more and tells kylie she need's to choose between them, after finding out about the letters.

Lucas: Werewolf Lucas is very bold and isn't shy about his feelings for kylie. for over half the book he is away on a mission from the FRU, ( the supernatural branch of the FBI) and sends her letters. Kylie has also been dreaming about being with him in her sleep, and that's one of the reasons she feels guilty. Lucas was a "friend" from her childhood and admitted that he's always had a crush on her. he's very outgoing and won't back down until Kylie decides to date him.

At the end of the book, Derek is gone and Lucas and Kylie have been getting a lot closer... not dating but he's not ever taking that off the table. at the beginning of the whole series blood was something that grossed her out, and at the beginning of this book she has to drink some for the vampires ritual to show everyone what it is, and she likes it "quote about the blood tasting like fruit" (page whatever) 
then she starts freaking out thinking maybe she's a vampire, because she also realized she's running faster than normal. But she never turns cold so it goes to werewolf. 
the werewolf argument has a lot of evidence such as the legend of a wolf following werewolf higher ups "quote about wolf" and the fact that werewolf women grow before a full moon and she got taller, longer hair, bigger boobs almost overnight. 
but when the full moon comes nothing happens to her and she's left back at square knowing only one thing and that's that she has powers.

soon Holiday (the camp leader) starts to realize that kylie only has so much strength when someone she loves is in danger. and they come up with the conclusion that kylie is a protector. "quote about protectors"

for example once kylie went to the falls for the first time, she felt very calm and she felt as if the place itself and supposed "death angles" were helping to calm her and she left with the feeling of "everything is going to be fine" "quote about that place"

]]> 2016-11-22 16:52:18 UTC https://padlet.com/19zurnk/2vv2b2y65w6w/wish/139412415 19zurnk https://padlet.com/19zurnk/2vv2b2y65w6w/wish/139492910 - right away this book starts with the possibility of Kylie being a vampire. all the species do a kind of "show and tell" ritual thing and it was the vampires turn and they were passing around a cup of blood that everyone had to take a sip from. when she drank it this is what she described it as "blood quote" she immediately ran being very scared and nervous that she might be a vampire. 
-And all while this is happening one of the powers she knows about, ghost whispering, is in full effect as the current ghost with her a little girl who wears a white dress that is sometimes stained with blood keeps appearing and saying "You have to stop it, Kylie. You have to. Or this will happen to someone you love." obviously Kylie is freaked out because a ghost is saying that someone she loves is going to die and Kylie has to so something about it, but she doesn't know what. 
- Meanwhile, she is also struggling with her parents' divorce and finding out that one of the reasons for it was her father cheating. She used to think her mother was a reason and her father was a saint, but she realized how much her mother struggled and gets a lot closer to her and it helps to know that her father isn't her biological father. 
- Also during all of that, she is trying to figure out her relationship status with Derek. while feeling guilty about dreaming about Lucas and getting letters from him she feels very strongly for Derek and might even love him. 

- In the end, her strength and speed appear to be the cause of her being a protector (she gains amazing strength when people she loves are in danger or she thinks they are) as for her taste in red beverages (blood) that is still unknown as to why she thinks it tastes good
- And for the ghost, it was talking about her best friend back home who had cancer, which Kylie discovered during a week at home. and the ghost kept telling her to fix it so Kylie tried and turns out she can even heal people! and healed Sarah (her friend) 
- the parent front she was getting closer to her dad slowly till she realized he was just using her to get closer to her mom and not Kylie so she slammed the door in his face and Kylie and her mom are probably going to just get even closer. 
- Derek found out about the letters from Lucas and broke off whatever it was they had then left to work for the FRU (the supernatural branch of the FBI) and Kylie was broken hearted because she had decided she wanted Derek, not Lucas.
