The poem is about how people see the negative in someone and then they assume that they are always bad and then they think that the group is gonna be bad and then they stereotype that group and then society jumps in and judges that group and it stays with that group forever,it also talks about how African Americans and other people are helping fight prejudice with the help of poetry .

The article is about how sears catalogs helped out segregation in the south and it helped a lot of African Americans to shop online and not have to go to the store in person and most likely get discriminated at the store and get taxed more because of their race .It also talks about how the Jim crow laws were also a big part of the segregation. The store used sears to help African Americans shop online and not in person so they couldn't get taxed more than white people and not get judged.
