To add to this, the article further explains how, "Men and women are free to study what they want. But there is plenty of evidence that workplace segregation, and men's and women's differing career paths, cannot be explained away as a matter of preference." This reveals to the readers of such an article that times have truly not changed as society's ideals are still bound to the old and that men still appear to be the dominant figure in how these societies play out.
