A night terror is close to a nightmare, but a night terror has a far more dramatic presentation. It happens in NREM sleep when you transition from a stage of deep sleep to lighter sleep. The child becomes agitated and frightened during the transition, and begins to freak out. Some treatments for night terrors are better sleeping habits and addressing the stress.

Sleepwalking is a behavior disorder that originates during deep sleep. It more often occurs in children rather than adults, and is a result of sleep deprivation. Because it happens in deep sleep, it is head to awake the person and they probably won't remember it happening. Some treatments are getting adequate sleep, reducing stress, and avoiding any kind of stimulation. It is also safer to wake the person up while they are sleep walking because they can do dangerous things while asleep.
