The war with Mexico took place in 1864 to February 2, 1848.Manifest Destiny was suggested that expansion was not only good, but bound to happen. Even if it was meant to push Mexicans, Natives, and Americans out. When Congress admitted that Texas as a slave state, Southerners saw that the expansion in to Texas, was away to extend slavery,. And to increase their power in Congress. But a bill formed which didn't allow slavery in any of the lands taken from Mexico. America offered to pay Mexico $25 million for Texas, California, and New Mexico. But it did not work out because Mexico wanted to defend when the Mexicans wanted the borders should be. April 25, 1864, Zachary Taylor and his troops were on the northern bank on Rio Grande. When Taylor's troops went into the northern bank of Rio Grande, the Mexicans thought that it was an act of war, again. So the Mexican army ambushed the American group, so the war between Mexicans and Americans began. Finally the war of Mexico officially ended on February 2, 1848, because of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo had some conditions to it. One was that Mexico had recognize that Texas is apart of the United States, and that Rio Grande was the border between the two nations. Mexico also gave up a vast region known as the Mexican Cession. The area of the Mexican Cession included states of California, Nevada, Utah, most of Arizona, and parts of New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. Because of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidaglo, in return, The United States agreed to pay Mexico $15 million. The United States would also pay 3.25 million of claims U.S. had against Mexico. And finally, promised to protect the 80,000 Mexicans living in Texas, and in the Mexican Cession.

My husband, (which is Mexican)went in the war, so he could protect our land in Mexico. While my husband was in the war, I was home taking care of my children. While I was outside watching my children play, i over heard people taking about how the Mexicans are coming how because they surrendered during the war. When . my husband came back, he told the family that we are going to move to Texas. When we got to Texas we bought some land in the west so we can farm are food, and run a ranch full of animals. We also meet some really nice white settlers were we moved. I love being in the UnitedStates!
