Japan welcomed in traders and missionaries, starting with the Portuguese back in the 16th century and later on welcomed in more Europeans. They introduced new technology and new ideas.(1#) they brought in clocks (time) (2#) firearms and (3#) also things like eyeglasses, tobacco, and other items too. It made an impact by (first) showing that there is a lot to offer, or we are friendly. But also, one item that made an impact was (+also they were friendly) The weapons (like firearms) were important and it changed the time honored tradition, it was one thing that really impacted them.
