Advancing technology is making it easier and easier for people to access the media. Research is very difficult to do on media since it changes so often , but there are a couple theories on how it effects health. One is, "Social learning theory...suggests that when individuals see a behavior portrayed in a positive way, they have a tendency to imitate and adopt it," (8). Another theory is, "Cultivation theory suggests...that what individuals see on television supersedes their own perceptions of the real world around them," (8).
