The town of Amelia was a city which swam in the clouds. This metropolis counted ten millionin habitants who had never undergone economic crises, famines, epidemics or worse, of war.Nothing of that existed for the townsmen of this inventive fortress. Vessels flew to the top of thecity. With the discovery of the vapor, theinhabitants of this city had been able to feed alltheir economic system and technological. Themonarch of this citadel was the shogun Shin-To-I,elderly person a one hundred year old and respected his subjects.
But this one did not have a potential descendantand thus, for the first time since hundreds of years, the people were going to be able to vote forthe successor of the old man shogun. But in spite of its paradisiac and marvellous appearance, thecity hid a secrecy… A terrible secrecy. Indeed, thecelestial metropolis had many ores (such ascelestial steel, used by the angels according to thelegend, the celestial gold, most beautiful of all ordiamond Shin-To-Itien, expensive of all diamonds of the world).
To exploit these wealths, they needed blue-collar worker and labour, thus, of the blue-collar workers who worked day and night in the basement of thecity. In the underground city, the unhealthy buildings and the enormous tanks had replaced thebuildings of luxury and the large wheels of the fun fairs. The city was enlightened only by theplugging lights of the crucible cast steel. The blue-collar workers were condemned to remain there until the end of their days, exploited by the highest social class of the city. Three months after mydeparture of the town of Amelia, I learned that ithad ended up collapsing because of herheaviness. The inhabitants of the top and theshogun were never found. The only survivors ofthis catastrophe were the blue-collar workers ofthe city, released from the chains that had imposed to them the city robber of life.
Sacha Mourat

Three stages of the suspended city of Octavie

One evening, very tired by a very long ride and a short walk, I lay down, exhausted. In the night, Iawoke. I went up along an immense staircasewhich comprised several stages. On an immense stage, I found a large door. I pushed the door, and I arrived in the town of Octavie. It was a splendid city. Since the height where I was, a vastness ofroofs were shining with the sun. I was dazzled. They were made fine layers of pure gold whichsparkled in the whiteness of the morning. Certain houses were made of marble which contrasted with gilded of their cover. To refresh this atmosphere, there was by far in far from immense transparent basins where splendid people bathed. In front of the doors aquariums were which contained rare and multicoloured fishes.
I decided to go to visit the city. In the streets, Ilive only young and beautiful inhabitants. Theirclothing was transparent and of white color.Everywhere in the streets, I live the same thing. The residents did not seem to work. They spokemuch between them while laughing and while joking. It was the same thing everywhere. I then desired to see where the other piece of staircaseled. I thus assembled many steps, and afterhaving pushed a splendid money door, I led to anew city. This time, the houses were made out of money. Immense trees protected the villagers. They looked less happy than in the city in bottom. They hurried to arrive per hour at work. They did not laugh almost any more. I thought that, so thatmy description of Octavie is complete, it was necessary that I go up to the last stage.
The door that I found in front of front me was out of iron. Certain buildings were well maintained, but of others were left with the abandonment. Sheet recovered them and even sometimes, it wasrusted sheet. The city was cold, dirty and I did not want to visit it. The inhabitants were dressed inidentical tunics all and an unpleasant gray color. They left to work sadly under the surveillance ofguards. I hurried to arise from the third stage which was sad and uninteresting. I strolled a littleon the second floor, but I was in a hurry to arriveat the first. I understood that the inhabitants ofOctavie move during their life and that they passfrom a happy life to an unpleasant life. I finished, large Khan, to describe you the town of Octavieand definitely, your empire is well surprising!
Gabriel Carlot

When the traveller penetrates in Irina, he does not see a city but a similarity of similar cities almostall which extend on a vast space. However, Irinais not a set of cities but only one and even citydivided into two districts. All the buildings of thefirst district are identical: they have all of thegeometrical forms, release a whole a thick but clear smoke which replaced the air. All the buildings of the second district are identical in any point: they have all the same structure and are made starting from same materials. Their frontageis in tons green. This color is due to the dirtinessand the dust which reign in the city. The inhabitants of Irina make the same thing unceasingly in a very repetitive way. The everyday, per same hour, they leave towards district 1,and the every day, per same hour, they return from district 1 to return on their premises and to set out again at once the following day. The inhabitants ofIrina live in monotony. For them, the days aresimilar. Not one is not different from the others. The life in the town of Irina is same each day.
Amandine Poll

Octavie looks us of in top without really being concerned with our activities. I am behind his undulated bars, to contemplate the beauty of the animals, the luxuriant vegetation andthe exotic colors. Each animal is unknown for me,they are forms similar to those which we know, but color vermilion, crimson, orange, anise and well of others joining wonder. They have all thegilded legs. As if they had gone on gold. This island appears to me to be like the last part of the preserved Earth human being, still pure. A sanctuary of peace which was not dirtied of our waste, of our negative waves, our black thoughts.
Joana Pitet

I saw anything nornobody, except for a block of ground and rocksuspended to some hanging lianas the suchcords of an bracket. This floating rock intrigued me. Without name and isolated, it seemed to float a such island in the humid air and dusty ofthe area which surrounded me. It was coveredwith brushwood and perfectly oval whitestones. Some however were fissured and I livean inhabitant to emerge. He caught a rodentand swallowed it, then, imperturbable, he set out again on the island, as died on his bed oflianas. I did not see anybody any more, only this block, and not hearing that the noise of thewind, I escaped, I imagined, I thought of thisrock imperturbable, utopian, and inaccessible like one dreamed so near and yet so remote. Itwas another world, finer and air, where all wassmaller, crawling, flying or even digging, where all were different and yet equal, where all lived in community, while being respected, insulated, grouped and splendid. The island seemed to die, like one hung balancing themselves, hung with the life by the only cord of the lianas, trying to survive, breathless. Octavie… Such an amount of died in this landscape but so much beauty…
Mazen Blin

What he discovers while arriving, they are the inhabitants who beautiful, are well equipped, capped well. Their houses beautiful, are coloured, large, with decorations on the walls and with the ceilings, and with made ancient glosses of large precious stones. The following day, the city disappeared and gave way to a cluster of sinister ruins which looks of a scene ofdevastating war. The little of people whom he sees is naked with the skin on the bones, theyare piled up around corpses carrying of themilitary costumes of various nations. The beautiful city disappeared and gave way to an unexplainable and unhealthy city. The 3rd day,the town of Venus reappeared like the first day, people wear splendid clothes, the houses areagain sumptuous. The man from of deduced that one day out of two the city is beautiful andthat the other, it is a field of ruins. At this timethere, it reminds its life and wonders whether itis an ordinary life better or to accept a lifewhich gives as far as it includes as in this city. Then it reflects during several days whilecontemplating the contrast of this city.
Octavie, the false paradise

Octavie is a city which defies gravity, its nameundoubtedly comes to him from Octave (Roman Emperor). This city is war like which is not let make, it is besides why it is suspended in the airsinstead of being wisely on the ground like all theother cities. Octavie is the paradox of the town ofArgie. Over there, the inhabitants motion less, died, where as in Octavie, the men are '' alive' 'and pure, they cannot thus make the evil. Argie is perhapsthe hell (under-is in hiding) and Octavie theparadise (in the airs). The inhabitants all ofOctavie are of '' the soldiers' 'who cannot prevent themselves from obeying. Over there, all is ordered and directed by only one person. They call it “God”. Some of the inhabitants of this city lived formerly in other cities, but because of the worstthing which can arrive at a living being, they left their world to join this one. All the residents (in the town of Octavie) carry white and purest of themhave like majestic wings in the back.
This city is separate in 7 parts representing the 7days of the week. The 1st part is that where live the least pure inhabitants and the 7th part is that where resident more obeying and purest. It is asystem of social classes, called “the 7 skies”.Many are the beautiful gardens, the exotic fruits and the unhappy ones. Very resident must subject itself to the rules and does not have its word to say. In the way in which I describe Octavie, Iwant to show that this city is undoubtedly theparadise with the most beautiful landscapes whichcan exist, that it is perfect but that if one looks at more closely, one realizes that the octaviens arefar from having a perfect life: they are sorted, placed in social classes and must obey their God.
Soumia Rouane

They never sleep. The houses are built in a mixture of wood andground. The air is replaced by nontoxic gas. In thehouses, there are five stages in top and twopennies the ground. Every morning, all the townsmen run of an end to the other of the city towithout stopping. The weekend does not exist. Itnever makes day thus I think that it is for that the inhabitants never sleep, because they do not know if it is the day or the evening and they do not havean hour. In this city, there are neither women nor children, there are only men, and from time to time, the men leave the city and return there with business. Me I lived in a charming small housewith two or three people with whom I never spoke because they did not understand my language. Me, on the other hand at night I slept and the morning, I awoke quietly in my good and double bed, then I spent a good day.
Thibaud Donnelli

One does not know what the inhabitants of Octavie do when time stops! Perhaps they sleep… Or perhaps although they are ressourcent. In fact, one does not know really what they do!
Then Octavie takes again its course, always atthe same minute, the same moment. The inhabitants always start again same the things, each time, all the time. Is the Suspended city ofOctavie in fact only one vulgar repetition of actions, time, seconds? Who knows? Perhaps aday all will change it! They will be able to then change life, of routine, they will be able to traverse exotic islands or mountains so white that snowwill appear transparent! Once the crossed city, one can foresee a strange landscape. Like a city surrounded by flames, one can see people equipped with red with pointed horns and tails. The children bicker constantly and the parents do not do better. The inhabitants of Octavie are desperateby this spite but they can nothing make. The dwellings are very spaced and the inhabitants never leave on their premises as if they were locked up and that they did not have the keys of on their premises. All the houses are same color, of a dark blue. Then, there is an immense castle all at the bottom of a forest. To find it, there is one possible way, it is necessary to go up this river. Once it is seen, the castle is suspended is it is of a color different from that of the houses of the townsmen. The castle is of a gray clearly almost white. In truth, the townsmen suspended and the townsmen terrestrial never meet. In the suspended city, the inhabitants are very alive, they work, have fun, make evenings and have many of other occupations. What returns the city if amusing, they are much diverting structures or of the parks, green spaces and an aerodrome. In the terrestrial city, the inhabitants are soft, they almost do not move, they are very hot-tempered and do not support the townsmen suspended; the inhabitants die and nobody occupies himself some.
Gaël Riberot

What makes Octavie different from the other cities, it is that it is suspended in the air, is connected by narrow bridges and is attached bycords. The inhabitants do not dare to leave, theyknow that their life is limited. Indeed, the city lasts only a time because it is fixed on lianas not really solid, which can be taken down constantly. Theirdwellings resemble fabric bags, in the shape ofcocoon. Nobody knows the existence of the townof Octavie. Each day, Octaviens know that theirdays are counted, because of the city which canbe taken down. The inhabitants, they are almost never seen. Each morning, certain people try to repair the cords but their bridges are so narrowthat the inhabitants do not dare any more to walkabove. Each inhabitant plays his own role to make function the city as well as possible.
Mélissa Vigolo

Today I went in Octavie, the suspended city. Thiscity is splendid is large, I were believed in one dreamed. The characteristic of this city it is which flies in the middle of the clouds, I did not believe my eyes of them in the beginning, then I visited itand all changed, it is not a small town or peopleare cold and aggressive, oh not, they are nice andpleasant, even the animals tell you hello. Whenyou enter the city, it is another world, all is clean, the houses are lines in squaring of the same color that all the rest of the city: blue! I would even say that irritates me that all is square, people are equipped similar, it has only white there, of course, because the blacks are different from the white. This city, I would call rather it the suspended an teater. To want to be too different from the others, one always returns to the infinite banality.
Mattéo Lauqué

The morning, when the population awakes, the streets are very clean, there are new flowers which push back instead of old, and the trees too. The odor of these new plants is felt well. When the flowers leave, others push back, the trees also have new sheets which push back, as if the city were magic. The inhabitants are never in the house. Most of the time, they are outside to admire their city.
Wassim Oulkasse

The next morning, I left to themarket. Everyone looked me from top to bottom,as if I were a foreigner coming from another world,as if I were not human. I wanted to understand why they looked me like that with such an amount of attention. An young man saw me and tells me:
“Why be you come here? ” I answered: “Because it is a beautiful city. - How that a beautiful city! This is a diabolic city, no person could not leave this city because it is closed, if you try to save you, you will die, the woman who sing will returnyou gives, patient! All that I can tell you, it is thatwhen the woman sings, do not do anything, does not awake especially!” When I had returned at home, the woman sang again.
